Health insurance is worth it

Why it pays to have health insurance in Bangkok

Published: 14.06.2011 04:36

IT was interesting to read your article about health insurance for expats and whether it’s worth it in last month’s issue. Recently an English friend of mine died in Bangkok after a lengthy battle with cancer. He left behind a Thai wife and three children, but no money – he was not insured so every penny he had went on paying for his treatment whilst he was at hospital. Now his wife is struggling with paying bills and raising the kids on her own. If you ever need evidence that health insurance is worth it, you just have to look at this lady and the desperate situation she is now in.
