STUDENTS at Shrewsbury International School have once again achieved record-breaking success in their IGCSE and A level examinations with the vast majority gaining the very top grades.
For A Levels, 46 students sat 166 exams and more than 90% were passed at a B grade or above – up from 80% last year. Nearly a quarter (24%) of these passes were at the very highest A* grade – doubling last year’s total of 12% and easily
surpassing the average in the UK.
One student, Wenli Toh, attained five A* passes and will now take up a place studying English at Cambridge University in the UK, while another student, Peranat (Air) Dayananda, achieved 4 A* passes. He will study at Johns Hopkins University in the US.
There was a clean sweep for the students who had applied to Oxford and Cambridge with all of them gaining the grades they needed to take up their places.
In IGCSE, results in the CIE exams show another rise in the number of passes at the highest grades. Percentages for the CIE exam board show that students passed 67% of their exams at A* or A grade. This compares to 64% last year.
