Pad Thai on song for People Eye Care Foundation
Thailand’s favorite traditional dish is being highlighted once again when the Pad Thai Party & Musical Soiree is held the British Embassy Residence and Gardens on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, from 6-10 pm.
Proceeds from the event go to the People Eye Care Foundation for the provision of free cataract operations in rural Thailand. A donation will also be given to the School for the Blind. Chefs from the British Club of Bangkok will cook the Pad Thai, plus other food, while popular local musician Keith Nolan and the Cotton Mouth & Bangkok Bellends jazz and blues band will play throughout the evening.
There will also be guest performances by the School for the Blind musicians and singers and the Echo School of Music. Thai celebrity Iang Sittha will sing 'I can see clearly now the rain has gone.’
Tickets cost 1,800 baht per person, and will include a Thai herbal welcome drink, Pad Thai, Gai Yang, Som Tam and a selection of Thai desserts, tea and coffee. Guests will also receive coupons for alcoholic drinks.
Each cataract operation costs approximately 7,000 baht, which includes the replacement intraocular lens at 5,000 baht a pair.
