Shifting the location to appreciate the moon with “Moon rise”, recent works produced in the spring of 2014, the See Sea series that this photograph belongs to, comprises poetic observations of the Taiwanese coastline near the village of Hsuhai in the southeast of the country. Living for nearly two months facing the Pacific Ocean, the young photographer Po Chen studied the sea through his lens every day and watch the ocean in different each day. He remains immobile for several solitary hours, waiting for the right light to sculpt the texture of the water and reveal the color of the sky appearing over the horizon. These minimalist marine views plunge the spectator into the heart of an infinite natural world and are somewhat reminiscent of the black and white images of Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto.
