foodpanda Thailand reveals a 25% increase in the total orders among university students in 2018

The holidays are coming to an end and students will soon be occupied with homework, presentations, exams, and to-do lists. Students tend to cram a lot during this time which naturally induces stress. They will have no more time to cook food resulting to skipping meals, which is why ordering food is a very convenient choice for this busy group of people. For this reason, foodpanda Thailand did an in-depth study on what the students crave the most during their January to July term. The company conducted a comparative study using 2017 and 2018 data from 7 different universities in Bangkok namely: Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University (Bang Khen), Srinakharinwirot University, Thammasat University (Ta Prachan), Thammasat University (Rangsit), Bangkok University, and Ramkhamhaeng University.
Comfort food when under stress
Summer is coming to an end and it’s about time for the students to take off their beach clothes and put on their school uniforms. Let’s face it, it’s not really a good time for the students, but good thing is that, they always have comfort food to set them in a good mood. According to research, students prefer ordering from BonChon Chicken and McDonald’s the most. Students are always craving for Korean fried chicken and burger. Thanks to these comfort food, they have the motivation to pursue their studies despite the stress they are going through.
According to research, most of the students prefer American and Japanese food with respectively 29% and 23% preference among all the other cuisines during this time.
Peak hours for ordering food
Results from the study show that students order food the most for dinner. The exact peak hours for orders from students are from 5 pm to 8 pm. The number of orders shoots up to 40% more during these hours. Orders from the students make up to 48% of the total order in a day.
Students take their motivation to study from food, which is a good thing. It also doesn’t hurt to order something for post-dinner. Here’s a list of vendors you can order amazing desserts from: Mori Dessert Bar, Kanom Siam, and Pinkberry.
