Celebrating the rich history of French cuisine in style
THE best meals are always akin to a story well told. Fascinating yarns spun around luscious ingredients, years-old recipes, and considerate cooking. And all with the same delectable conclusion – a delicious lunch or dinner. That Café Parisien at Glasshouse@Sindhorn (Wireless Rd.) has captivating tales to tell is pretty much a given. The brasserie’s kitchen is led by renowned French chef Herve Frerard, formerly of Le Beaulieu, and he’s a master at bringing French culinary traditions to life. At Café Parisien this translates into a series of classic French dishes cooked with premium imported ingredients and presented with Herve’s trademark flair. Think of it as authentic French comfort food dressed up for the ball – a hearty selection of braised meats and slow-cooked veggies loaded with rich, wholesome flavours. |
Signature dishes include Baked endive with savoy ham béchamel sauce (B550++), Baked crispy duck leg confit, salardaise potato (B990++); and Slow-cooked pork belly, Ratte potatoes and Pommery mustard (B550++). The pork, cooked for at least 20 hours, is especially impressive – a genuine melt-in-the-mouth treat. And we loved how the crispy duck skin gave way to succulent, gamey meat.
Another must try is the Scallops Quenelles, mushroom duxelle, Nantua sauce (B990++), a Lyon specialty featuring ground and seasoned scallops (wonderfully soft) topped with a crayfish butter sauce and diced seasonal mushrooms.
For dessert, don’t miss the Caramelized millefeuille, hazelnut pastry and vanilla ice cream (B240++), and Classic rum baba biscuit, vanilla Chiboust cream (B240++). The former is sweet and viscous without being cloying; and the rum-soaked baba biscuit balances booze and syrup to tasty effect.
As you’d expect from a restaurant located within Glasshouse@Sindhorn, Café Parisien is encased within a large glass room that’s light and airy by day (a great option for a business or casual lunch), and illuminated just right at night (perfect for a date).
A set lunch, priced at just B690++ (for soup or salad; entrée and dessert) is available daily. Ditto two special five-course lunch and dinner menus dubbed ‘The Parisien’ and ‘The Connoisseur,’ priced B1,900++ and B2,500++ respectively. Set lunch menu changes every month.
For a dining experience to remember, book for a group of between 6-18 diners and you can secure the Chef Table experience. Conducted in a private mezzanine room, this sees Chef Herve create a four or five course menu based on your preferences, and starts from just B3,500++ per person.
