The day began with an event hosted by the Ambassador of Ireland to the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Joseph Anthony Cotter, who was joined by his fellow Ambassadors from numerous countries including Brazil, Laos, Mongolia, Peru, Portugal, Slovak Republic, as well as an EU delegation and their spouses. This year was a very special occasion as H.E. Mr. Patrick O'Donovan, Minister of State for Public Procurement, Open Government and eGovernment of Ireland was a guest of honour at the event.
Speeches were made by both Minister O'Donovan as well as Ambassador Cotter.
This was followed by a party for Bangkok-based Lawton Asia insurance brokers, who paid tribute to their Irish heritage with a cocktail reception high above the streets at the Sky Lounge on the 33rd floor. The event was attended by countless high-profile local business owners and a wonderful time was had by all.
St. Patrick’s Day is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated on March 16th to commemorate the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. It’s now celebrated by many countries throughout the world, both Irish and non-Irish alike, and features food, drink and all things green, the traditional colour of the “Emerald Isle”.
