Hong Kong SAR – Building on its mission to spread jewelry knowledge, appreciation and culture, L’ÉCOLE Asia Pacific, School of Jewelry Arts, is delighted to announce its newest educational exhibition, ”Discover the Gemstones, Ruby & Sapphire”, which will be available to the public from June 10 to September 30, 2020. Since opening its second permanent campus in Hong Kong last November, L’ÉCOLE Asia Pacific has already welcomed thousands of students through its courses, talks and exhibition, and will now be offering new opportunities to learn more about the rich beauty of gemstones. Through this exhibition co-curated by Olivier Segura, gemologist and Scientific Director at L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts and Billie Hughes, gemologist at Lotus Gemology and award-winning photographer, visitors will be able to embark on a journey of discovery and see rubies and sapphires like never before. During the journey, one of the many fascinating things they will learn include the fact that these two precious stones are both scientifically of the same mineral “Corundum”, and both have a similar chemical composition and structure. What leads to a brilliant red ruby or the many colors of sapphires is completely determined by trace amounts of chemical elements found within the gemstone. |

The escalation of deforestation that the world has witnessed in the last decades is one of the greatest environmental challenges we currently face. The World Rainforest Day, celebrated on June 22nd each year, is a chance to raise awareness about the urgent need to protect these ecosystems, which are vital for our existence on Earth and a measure needed to prevent future pandemics.
In 2019, the world lost an area equivalent to a football pitch of primary rainforest every six seconds, according to data from the University of Maryland, released on the Global Forest Watch platform. The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) warns that 75% of all emerging human pathogens are zoonotic, meaning they are infections originated in animals. Activities like deforestation, landscape fragmentation, habitat encroachment increase the risk of disease transmission. “If we are to “build back better” from the COVID-19 pandemic, the global recovery process will need to recognize the intimate link between people and nature”, declares the UN body. "We are destroying our forests and putting our future at risk, for food products such as meat and industrial products made with palm oil, that aren’t necessary for us to have a healthy and balanced diet", says Wichayapat Piromsan ,the Thailand-based campaign manager of Sinergia Animal. PressMe, a newly launched PR platform, aims to help Thailand’s food and beverage industry find its feet again in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.
The platform, which was developed by CHIA Communication Asia, a communication agency specializing in F&B, assists restaurant and bar owners by connecting them directly with leading journalists and bloggers in their field — completely free of charge. With the recent relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions, Thailand’s F&B professionals are faced with the time-consuming, and often confusing, task of reaching the right media sources with their reopening news, updated menus and delivery information. PressMe simplifies the process. Businesses can upload their press release information and promotional images straight to the PressMe website. After approval, which comes within 12 hours of clicking submit, their press kits will be sent directly to top names in the media. Media professionals can also register online to receive updates. “Restaurants and bars are really struggling and the cost to promote venues is too high considering the current lack of cashflow. Having worked in the industry for many years, we know the pain points and would love to help our fellow F&B professionals by sharing our database,” says Memy Chia, co-founder of PressMe. The platform is easy to use, just visit www.press-me.com and follow the steps. |
