Marriott Bonvoy's bar scene in Thailand is elevated into an exciting new era of excellence with recognition from this highly prestigious annual list
Bangkok, Thailand: July 2025 – W Bangkok, the playful haven of art and design in the heart of the Thai capital, is celebrating after Bar Sathorn ranked No. 48, Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025. This marks the first time one of Marriott Bonvoy’s bar in Thailand has been included on this prestigious annual list, and reflects how Bar Sathorn is reimagining Bangkok’s social scene with its creative mixology, art-led interiors, and upbeat vibe.
Set in The House on Sathorn, a restored mansion within the grounds of W Bangkok, juxtaposed against the sleek 31-story hotel tower, this distinctive venue sets the stage for inspiring evenings with family and friends. Originally constructed in 1889 as a private residence, The House on Sathorn served as a luxury hotel and the Russian Embassy, before being revitalized by the award-winning design experts at AvroKO and reopened in 2015 as one of the city’s most captivating social venues. Bar Sathorn was relaunched in 2023 with an eclectic design concept that honors the building’s more than 135 years of heritage, including striking artworks by emerging young Thai artists.
Led by Marco Dognini, the talented Italian Bar Manager, Bar Sathorn now invites guests to step into a world of art and mixology. Over the course of his stellar career, Marco has showcased his skills at top hotels, bars and restaurants all around the world, including the Michelin-starred Carlo Cracco Restaurant in Milan and the world-famous Buddha Bar in Dubai. He achieved top 10 finishes in the World Class competitions in Italy and Dubai, and was named as a brand ambassador for Coca-Cola in 2020.
Securing Bar Sathorn a place on the “Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025” list however, is possibly his most impressive achievement to-date. Blending premium and artisan spirits with authentic Thai ingredients, Marco and his team craft unique cocktails that infuse stories and emotions into every glass.
