SERIES TWO: SOCOTRA : A Most unusual ISLAND
14 FEBRUARY – 27 march
14 FEBRUARY – 27 march
Renowned architect, designer, and artist Bill Bensley returns to the Four Seasons Hotel’s Art Space by MOCA Bangkok with a remarkable rotating exhibition featuring three distinct collections. The exhibition, which opened on 10 January and runs until 30 April 2025, showcases Bensley’s latest works—vivid and deeply inspired by his travels across 11 countries since his last show at the venue in 2023.
More than an artistic endeavour, this exhibition is a platform for philanthropy, dedicated to supporting environmental conservation and educational programs in Southeast Asia. Proceeds from each collection will directly benefit communities in Cambodia and Laos through the Shinta Mani Foundation, underscoring Bensley’s ongoing commitment to giving back.
The rotating exhibition unfolds in three phases, each with a unique theme and cause. The dynamic pieces reflect Bensley’s passion for nature and cultural diversity, with all proceeds directed toward initiatives that align with his dedication to environmental and humanitarian efforts.
The second collection, SOCOTRA – A Most Unusual Island will be unveiled on 14 February and run until 27 March 2025. Named after the remote island in the Arabian Sea, known for its otherworldly landscapes and iconic dragon’s blood trees, this series explores Bensley’s fascination with volcanoes across multiple countries.
The collection pairs dramatic paintings of volcanic eruptions in Socotra (Yemen), Alor (Indonesia), Jeju Island (South Korea), and Japan with striking portraits of compelling men he encountered during his travels in these regions.
