Thanakorn Vegetable Oil Products Co., Ltd., manufacturer of “Cook” vegetable oil and a flagship business of the Poonphol Group (PPG), has been recognized with two prestigious accolades: HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Awards and HR Asia Sustainable Workplace Awards. The recognition reaffirms the organization as a top employer of choice internationally and reflects its commitment to effective human resource management.

The awards, presented by HR Asia, one of Asia’s most respected human resources publications, were announced on September 26, 2025, at TRUE ICON HALL, ICONSIAM. Mr. Petch Wanglee, President of Thanakorn Vegetable Oil Products Co., Ltd., represented the company in receiving the honors.

The HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Awards is presented to outstanding organizations recognized as top employers for their excellent human resource management practices. This includes nurturing employees, fostering job satisfaction, and building an organizational culture that promotes employee growth and engagement, thereby reaffirming the organization as a great place to work. The awards were evaluated through the Total Engagement Assessment Model (TEAM), a framework designed to help organizations better understand employee needs. Candidates also underwent assessments and interviews with executives and company representatives conducted by the HR Asia committee. The HR Asia Sustainable Workplace Awards are special honors presented to organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to sustainability, social and environmental responsibility, and to fostering a positive workplace culture.

Mr. Petch Wanglee, Managing Director of Thanakorn Vegetable Oil Products Co., Ltd., stated that receiving these two awards reflects the confidence employees have in the organization. He emphasized that the employee happiness index is in line with the company’s human resource and sustainability strategy, which places people at the core — viewing personnel management as the “heart” that drives the organization toward its goals. A major factor contributing to the company’s recognition in the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Awards was its strong employee engagement survey results, which reported an Engagement: Happinometer score of 74.2%, rated “Very Happy,” along with a turnover rate of less than 1.5%. These results reflect the strength of the company’s SIIQ (Synergy, Innovation, Integrity, and Quality) values, which form the foundation of its organizational culture that unites employees at all levels toward shared goals.

Over the years, the company has placed strong emphasis on personnel development through initiatives such as the Work-Integrated Learning (WiL) program, Digital Talent Development, and Succession Planning. It has also prioritized employee health and well-being by organizing activities encouraging employees to exercise regularly. This not only promotes physical health but also fosters unity within the organization. This achievement is reflected in the company receiving the Healthy Organization Award from the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth).

The company’s recognition with the HR Asia Sustainable Workplace Awards is rooted in its 10-year-long achievement of the Green Corporate: Green Industry Level 5 award, reflecting effective carbon management, a 25.18% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions per production unit, and the use of over 84% renewable energy. In addition, the company is advancing its Zero Waste to Landfill and Circular Economy initiatives, including the construction of a greenhouse for organic waste management by 2025 to convert waste into valuable resources. It has also been honored with the CSR-DIW Continuous Award for 10 consecutive years, achieving a community engagement rate of 90.86%.

Organized by HR Asia magazine and operated by Business Media International in Malaysia, the HR Asia Awards have been held annually since 2013. Covering 15 Asian countries — including China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Thailand — the awards are the most widely recognized honors in the region, celebrating model organizations that exemplify excellence in human resource management.
