Kicking Off 2019/2020 New Zealand Avocado Season, Highlighting New Zealand as the Country of Origin for Premium, Nutrient-dense Avocados.
New Zealand Avocado officially launched the New Zealand Avocado Amazing Adventure Competition; with the aim to kick off 2019/2020 New Zealand Avocado Season in Thailand, highlighting New Zealand as the country of origin for premium, nutrient-dense avocados to consumers.
The New Zealand Avocado Amazing Adventure Competition launch event was hosted in collaboration with Jetts 24hrs Fitness, Asok, partnering to promote the message of health and fitness benefits through an active lifestyle and healthy diet. With a demonstration of the competitions physical challenge which the final winners must win! Also highlighting a special ‘AvoCardio’ HIIT session designed by Jetts which will take place each month, open to Jetts members & New Zealand avocado lovers! .
As part of the 2019/2020 New Zealand Avocado Season, the New Zealand Avocado Amazing Adventure Competition reflects New Zealand Avocado industry’s effort in promoting not only the health and benefits of New Zealand Avocados but New Zealand itself as the ideal source of premium, nutrient-dense Avocado through the country’s innovative farming, culture and people.
NZ Avocado CEO Jen Scoular said, “The innovative farming culture and the mandatory industry standards are the key factors that enable New Zealand to produce and consistently supply premium quality, safely farmed, sustainable avocados to Thailand and the rest of the world. Our growers are proud of what they do and they work hard to make this a successful industry. Now there are nearly 1,800 avocado growers in New Zealand producing avocados off over 4,000 hectares.”

Demand for New Zealand avocados in Thailand has experienced significant growth in the six five years, from 3,000 trays imported in 2013 to a total of 148,000 trays in 2018 with a forecast of over 200,000 trays in 2019.
“Thailand is a leading market for New Zealand Avocados consumption in Asia, with New Zealand avocados have become a desirable ingredient in households and restaurants thanks to their delicious taste and unique nutrient qualities,” said Scoular “Studies from 2016 indicate that [M3] Avocados grown in New Zealand contain double the vitamin B6 and 20% more folate than those grown in other parts of the world. Vitamin B6 helps fight fatigue and folate is an essential nutrient, especially for women and children. With the rise of fitness and healthy lifestyle in Thailand, New Zealand premium avocados are increasingly being sought out by culinary experts, foodies and those seeking a healthier lifestyle.”

With the aim to highlight New Zealand as country of origin for premium, nutrient-dense avocados, New Zealand Avocado is planning to launch a series of fun activities throughout the 2019/2020 season including the New Zealand Avocado Adventure Giveaway Competition, which will see a group of lucky contestants from Thailand, Singapore, Korea and Japan to win a trip to discover New Zealand in November 2019. Starting in Auckland, winners will visit Waitomo glow worm caves, Hobbiton film set from ‘Lord of the Rings’, volcanic lakes of Whakapapa, go hiking in the mountain trails of Rotorua, experience local Maori performances and enjoy a visit the farmlands of the Bay of Plenty where a large amount of New Zealand avocados are exported from. To win the competition, contestants need to find a teammate and apply online on Facebook @nzavocado.th, where they will be instructed to post a video of 'why they love New Zealand avocados and why they want to experience New Zealand'. Five teams of two will be selected to compete in five ‘New Zealand’ themed challenges for a chance to win a trip to New Zealand. The competition runs between 5th September to 30th September.
