ONYX Hospitality Group, a leading hospitality management company in Southeast Asia, is taking bold steps to make its hotels, resorts, serviced apartments, and luxury residences more sustainable. The group, whose portfolio includes Amari, OZO, Shama, and Oriental Residence, has partnered with global sustainability leaders Rynn Water, Winnow VisionAI, and ecoSPIRITS to implement innovative solutions across its hotels and restaurants in Thailand.

These collaborations are designed to enhance service quality, reduce environmental impact, and accelerate ONYX’s progress toward its ambitious sustainability goals.

Mr. Yuthachai Charanachitta, CEO of ONYX Hospitality Group, stated, “Our collaboration with three key partners—Rynn Water, Winnow VisionAI, and ecoSPIRITS—underscores ONYX’s commitment to leading sustainable hospitality in the region through the integration of world-class technologies across our hotels and restaurants. This strategic partnership demonstrates how innovation can tangibly reduce carbon footprints, minimise waste, and drive positive change for the hospitality industry as a whole.”
The initiatives with Rynn Water, Winnow VisionAI, and ecoSPIRITS are currently being piloted at Amari Bangkok and Amari Kuala Lumpur, showcasing measurable results and reinforcing ONYX Hospitality Group’s role as a sustainability role model in Southeast Asia.

Furthermore, the project helps to enhance the potential of Thai chefs and local teams to craft high-quality menus, lower operating costs, and encourage the use of locally sourced ingredients—delivering benefits to both the business and the environment. This strategic collaboration also strengthens ONYX hotels and restaurants in Thailand, driving them toward a “green innovation.” By leveraging technology, ONYX is transforming its properties into sustainable hotels that meet customer expectations while staying aligned with evolving global trends.

The first of the three partners, Rynn Water, focuses on integrating technology with sustainability. Regarding the drinking water production for restaurants and hotels, it uses an advanced nanofiltration system to produce mineral water that retains its beneficial properties for the body. The system dispenses both still and sparkling water from a dispenser, ready to be bottled in premium, designer glass bottles. This innovation minimises the need for bottled water transportation and storage, significantly reduces plastic consumption, and lowers the carbon footprint of drinking water management. Internationally recognised with the prestigious Good Design Award from the Japan Institute of Design Promotion, it reinforces ONYX Hospitality Group’s commitment to adopting eco-friendly technologies that elevate service quality while ensuring sustainable care for the planet.

Winnow VisionAI, the world’s leading artificial intelligence (AI) system for food waste management, leverages computer vision to automatically detect and analyse kitchen waste. The technology has achieved a 40–70% reduction in food waste within 6–12 months, alongside a 2–8% decrease in ingredient procurement costs. It also supports Thai chefs and kitchen teams by reducing the burden of waste tracking, allowing them to focus on crafting high-quality dishes. ONYX Hospitality Group has successfully implemented this global innovation across its properties, achieving significant results. At Amari Bangkok, food waste was reduced by 58%, while Amari Kuala Lumpur achieved a 67% reduction. The savings generated allow budgets to be redirected toward sourcing high-quality, local ingredients instead of being lost to waste. Importantly, this initiative also supports Thailand’s broader “Circular Economy” goals.

ecoSPIRITS is the world’s first premium alcoholic beverage packaging technology designed to minimise carbon emissions and waste through a closed-loop system. This innovative approach can reduce packaging waste by up to 95% and cut the carbon footprint by 60–90%. For example, a single ecoTOTE container holds the equivalent of six glass bottles and, over its lifetime, can replace more than 1,000 single-use glass bottles. With this innovation, ONYX Hospitality Group can serve world-class beverages in its premium bars and club lounges while significantly reducing environmental impact. This reinforces the group’s commitment to sustainable innovation, delivering exceptional guest experiences without harming the planet. It also supports Thailand’s ambition to become a leader in the bar and beverage industry, advancing toward a truly waste- and carbon-neutral future.

Mr. Yuthachai emphasised that the goal of reducing carbon emissions is a core part of ONYX Hospitality Group’s national and global commitments, with a focus on achieving tangible reductions that lead to sustainable operations. The group is also dedicated to responsible consumption and resource management to conserve natural resources. ONYX’s carbon reduction initiatives align with Thailand’s Long-Term Low Greenhouse Gas Emission Development Strategy, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
