In honor of the auspicious birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana, the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra proudly presents “Royal Concert: A Celebration of Thai Masters”, a night of music that showcases the skill of some of Thailand’s leading classical musicians.

Under the baton of Slawomir Grenda—acclaimed conductor and double bassist—the RBSO offers an exciting concert that pairs renowned pieces with talents of Thailand. The first half of the programme highlights two spenldid Thai soloists.

Experience the elegance of Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini as interpreted by Jayanat Wisaijorn. Who has distinguished himself as a fearless and versatile pianist, having made his concerto debut with the Heartland Symphony Orchestra at age 16, performing Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto in Minnesota, USA. A graduate of Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, Wisaijorn has captivated audiences across Thailand, Europe, and the United States.
Nattawut Sungkasaro, Principal Double Bass of the RBSO since 2018, will perform Concerto for Double Bass by Serge Koussevitzky. This concerto begins with a Tchaikovsky style motif by the orchestra; the double bass mostly plays in the higher range allowing more cantabile expressions. The second movement emphasizes lyrical-like melodies, recalling Dvorak’s Cello Concerto. Nattawut is a graduate of Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music and an alumnus of The Royal Thai Army School of Music.

The second half of the evening will culminate with one of the cornerstones of the orchestral repertoire, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 “Eroica”, a work that redefined the symphonic tradition with its scale and emotional depth. Join the RBSO for a truly delightful evening that celebrates the brilliance of Thai musicianship.
