Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet unveils its new Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar dedicated to the Thailand market, a limited edition of 20 pieces. The colours of the Thailand flag have inspired the design of the dial: its red “Grande Tapisserie” dial is complemented with a red inner bezel, blue and white counters as well as white gold applied hour-markers and hands. The 18-carat white gold watch also comes with an additional rubber strap in red or blue. The caseback is engraved with “Quantieme Perpetuel Limited Edition of 20 Pieces.” It is priced at 3,622,700 THB. The relationship between Audemars Piguet and Thailand goes a long way back. The Manufacture sold its very first perpetual calendar wristwatch, model 5516, to a Bangkok-based customer back in 1950. The timepiece has since become a legend as only 12 models were produced. In 2008, the Manufacture produced its first Royal Oak limited edition for Thailand. This 50-piece edition in steel and pink gold commemorates the king’s 80th Birthday, paying tribute to this milestone in the late king’s life. Audemars Piguet released a second dedicated watch for the Thailand market in 2013: the Royal Oak Offshore Pride of Siam. A sculpted engraving depicting Thailand’s royal white elephant adorned the watch’s caseback. |
