Art requires creative thinking, emotion, attitude and skill. It is an artist's passion that inspires the observer’s imagination and brings happiness and positivity to their life. Central: The Original Store, a new cultural center located in the historical area of old Bangkok where Central Group’s first retail store was established on Charoen Krung Road, proudly presents "WOODS of masterpiece", a duo art exhibition by the two contemporary master artists, Bathma Kaew-Ngok, internationally renowned in Thai ceramics, and Naomi Daimaru, internationally renowned in Japanese floral art. Working together for the very first time, both artists bring over 130 works of art to reflect their interpretations of philosophy and life experiences. For those who love art, you can check out the exhibition, join the activities and reserve art pieces from today until October 31, 2021, on the 4th floor, Central: The Original Store. “WOODS of masterpiece” is a collection of various works by two artists who embrace valuable techniques, rituals and are both fascinated with the uniqueness of Japanese-style art. The ceramic sculptures created by the craftsmanship of Bathma Kaew-Ngok, vary with the seasons, such as the Chawan tea cup, a tea cup that is larger than a regular tea cup, or the Raku cup, formed entirely by hand without the use of a potter’s wheel, giving it a unique asymmetrical appearance with a focus on the beauty of imperfection and simplicity. Other sculptural works include beautiful ceramic bowls, unmistakably reflecting the roots of the land of Sakura and bringing a blend of tradition and contemporary self identity to create an imperfect and distorted naturalness; perfection in the eyes of nature. |
One highlight of the many works of Naomi Daimaru is the arrangement of ikebana flowers arranged in the style of the ‘Ohara School of Ikebana’. Other exhibits by this amazing artist include prints, woodcuts and monoprints, all high-class works of art that require expertise and imagination. Watch these beautiful ikebana arrangements be created in front of you and displayed in perfect harmony with the ceramic works of Bathma Kaew-Ngok only today, the opening day, October 1, 2021.
The exhibition name, “WOODS of masterpiece” is inspired by the award-winning French Nobel novelist, Romain Rolland, who wrote about the end of Beethoven’s life and how many artists were inspired by his work to create value in the philosophy of aesthetics in art.
These two artists, Bathma Kaew-Ngok and Naomi Daimaru, are life partners and partners in creating works of art. They said “We have been fascinated with art since childhood, anytime that we faced obstacles and hard times, be it physically or mentally, we still had art. Art will always be our friend because we have faith in ourselves, belief in art and belief in creativity, so we never give up. Our life is like a ‘forest’ with both amazing, beautiful and bitter experiences. Those experiences have shaped us to produce great works. As with life, our journey is only halfway and we will continue to go on to find ourselves in this forest.
Bathma Kaew-Ngok is a Thai ceramic artist and teacher who has conveyed mastery and passion for ceramic sculpture since he was young. Because it consists of the science of printmaking, sculpture, the use of fire in clay pottery and the making of Asian ceramic crockery, it is considered a highly skilled art. This began with a serious commitment to study until finally, he received a scholarship and had the opportunity to learn about sculpture from Japan, a land known for its unique and outstanding art. His artwork gradually became more well known and accepted by Japanese artists. This led to having his first ceramic exhibition in Japan and he continued participating in Ceramic Exhibitions with international artists in Taiwan, South Korea, China, Singapore and the Philippines. In 2001, he held solo exhibitions in Thailand and Tokyo, Japan. The work that made him the most famous was the series "Din Ban Nok", shown at the Japan Foundation in Bangkok in 2007.
Naomi Daimaru, is a famous Japanese artist and floral expressionist who conveys the art of flower arranging in the style of the Ohara School of Ikebana. Naomi adheres to the philosophy of creating flower arrangements. She has
over 30 years experience working with flowers. She has also worked as a floral designer in the United States, Thailand, and Japan. She has also been involved in a variety of styling, interior design, commercial design, and other art installations as well as flower arrangement. She created her own personal art scene through her accumulated experience. ‘Treasure every meeting, for it will never recur…’, she recites like a mantra, always embracing flowers, people and art with this philosophy.
