Glitter, Glam and Rainbow Vibes: The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon Celebrates Pride

​This June, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon is turning up the glitter and cranking the vibes for Pride Month. From wild drag nights to carefully choreographed speed dating, join a month-long celebration of love, equality and pride at the capital’s most fashionable address.
 
Here’s what’s happening in June:
 
Get ready with us for the “Bangkok Pride Parade 2024” on Saturday 1st June!
The Parlor will be hosting a pre-parade get-together, with WIBWABWUB supplying glitter and face paint in every color of the rainbow, and everyone’s favorite queens of Drag Race Thai Fans providing the vibes and the expertise. A complimentary party bus will then take the merry crowd to Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) to join the Pride Parade. The pre-parade event will take place from 10AM till 2PM, with 15% off drinks at The Parlor. Registration is essential as space is limited.

Iconic Pride Bar Crawl (1st June – 30th June)
To keep the Pride energy going, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon will be running a special edition of its iconic bar crawl throughout the month of June, featuring new drinks from the hotel’s brilliant female bartenders. Milk Thanaworachayakit and Lunk Sarnchaipinyo will be shaking things up across our four bars at The Parlor, Mott 32 Bangkok, Double Standard and Ojo including Pride Blossom, highlighting flavors of gin, dry vermouth, cherry brandy and cranberry; Sichuan Serenity, a gin-based cocktail infused with mango, ginger, lime and Sichuan pepper; Tropical Rainbow, a mixed of bourbon, mango, blue curacao, lime and sparkling pink water; Colores, a mezcal-based cocktail features Sherry wine, lychee, roses, lime and Himalayan salt and more unexpected drinks. Available daily throughout June from 5:30PM – 10PM (last order).
 
For THB 1,980++ per person, you get six drinks, snacks, and a side of feel-good vibes. Plus, part of the proceeds goes to the Love Foundation, supporting equality and sexual health awareness for the LGBTQ community. Get your ticket here

​Teas at Tease (1st – 30th June)
You know we don’t Tease about scrumptious afternoon tea. Tease is thrilled to celebrate Pride Month this June with a special afternoon tea set inspired by the historical connection of purple to the LGBTQ community. Expect a deliciously decadent savory delight that features Purplish Root, a blend of sweet potato, cream cheese, chive, and caviar and more. Sweet treats include flower scones with mulberry jam and cream Chantilly; the Mauvy Daisy tart made with blueberry, almond, mascarpone; our showstopper, Pot de Fleurs, a picture-perfect combination of blackberry and rose jam, chocolate cake topped with edible flowers and leaves; and more. Price is THB 780++ per person per set with a welcome drink and loose-leaf tea pot, available daily throughout June from 1PM to 6PM.
 
The Parlor x Takara Wong (6th – 30th June) & Drag Me to Drinks featuring Oat Montien (15th June)
From Bang Saen to Bangkok, a design and dining takeover inspired by sunrise, sunset, and tropical beach vibes, The Parlor x Takara Wong collaboration is bringing you sassy limited-edition drinks and special dishes from the creative director and head designer of Thakorn Wannawong. And if you’re up for drinks and a show, don’t miss Oat Montien’s “Drag Me to Drinks” night at The Parlor on 15 June. A leading figure in the queer community in Thailand, Montien is an artist and writer working across various media, from visual to performance art. Expect rowdy cowboy-themed acts from Bangkok’s top drag performers, from 8:00 pm till late. Entry is free.
 
Pride Standard Screenings (13th June & 27th June)
With Standard Screenings, cinema buffs can take their pick from the epic “Bohemian Rhapsody” showing on 13 June and the heartwarming “Call Me by Your Name” on 27 June at the Double Standard Terrace. Entry is free, with a special two-for-one offer on beer during the screening, from 7PM till 9PM.

​Let’s Talk Pride at The Parlor (15th June)
On 15 June, Standard Talks at The Parlor will dive deep into the LGBTQ+ rights scene in Thailand. Speakers including Ton Thanasit Jaturaput, a professional singer, DJ, and reality TV star, Panyaphon Phiphatkhunarnon, co-founder of Love Foundation, and Jay Pongruengphant, the Project Manager of Gender Equality & Social Inclusion at the United Nations Development Programme Thailand, will cover a wide range of topics. From legal strides to benefits for same-sex couples, they will be covering it all, including a chat about transgender equality, LGBTQ influence in entertainment and fashion, and Thailand’s potential as a World Pride host. The event will take place at The Parlor from 5PM to 6PM, entry is free with complimentary drink and snack. Registration is required as space is limited.

Quick Cupid at Double Standard (22nd June)
Singles are invited to give romance a chance at LGBTQ Speed Dating event at Double Standard on 22 June. Hosted in partnership with speed dating event curators from OMG Matchmaking, the English-only gathering will see at least 15 singles mingle in groups, with a chance to win a stay at The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon from Not Your Standard Bingo surprise.
 
Entry is THB 1,499++ per person, including one drink and a snack, plus 10% off drinks and access to the after-party. The event will run from 7PM till 10PM, with tickets available on Ticketmelon here.

The Standard Grill’s Pride Brunch (29th June)
The last event on the calendar is The Standard Grill’s Pride Brunch on 29 June in partnership with G-Spot Entertainment. Apart from campy but ultimately fun performances from some of the city’s most fabulous drag queens, this Pride Brunch promises loads of fresh seafood and meats, from live station such as Fin de Claire No. 4, seafood ceviche taco to unlimited a la carte of seafood tartare, Hokkaido scallop, The Standard BKK handmade Wagyu sliders, squid ink linguine, Tiger Prawn cutlet, Little Joe rib eye, Amelia Park lamb cutlets, and plenty to like. For those with a sweet tooth, make sure to end your meal with our creative The Standard Grill pride rainbow gateau with cream Chantilly and fairy dust on top.
 
Price is THB 2,500++ per person includes a welcome cocktail, unlimited a la carte dishes and free-flow soft drinks. To upgrade the experience, add boozy package at THB 1,500++ per person includes free flow selected signature cocktails, spirits, wine and beer for even more fun and feisty.
