Happy Year of the Tiger! Celebrate Chinese New Year with auspicious dishes from InterContinental Pattaya

InterContinental Pattaya Resort invites everyone to celebrate Chinese New Year with family and friends, and auspicious dishes that signify health, wealth, good luck, happiness and success during the coming Year of the Tiger. The à la carte menu is served during the Chinese New Year season from 29 January to 1 February 2022.
The resort’s chef and team kick off Chinese New Year 2022 by offering this special à la carte menu with two dining venue options, the ocean-facing view at Elements or the panoramic view at Infiniti restaurant.
Prawn is a great staple of Chinese New Year menus because its Cantonese pronunciation, “har”, sounds like laughter, and represents happiness. Spring rolls represent wealth, as they look like gold bars, and are being prepared by the chefs with a moneybag of stuffed minced prawn (THB 350). A whole fish signifies abundance and surplus in everything from health through to love and prosperity, and the chefs will be steaming whole sea bass and serving it with soy sauce (THB 850).
Noodles represent longevity, and wok-fried noodles are served with chicken and prawn (THB 360). Oranges signify gold, represented by stir-fried prawn in orange sauce (THB 450). And rice balls are served for dessert, because their Chinese name and their round shape are associated with reunion and being together. They are being prepared with ginger, a strengthening ingredient, and gingko nuts, which resemble silver ingots (THB 320).

Delicious as well as auspicious, the à la carte gives guests the opportunity to select their own option, and the choice of venues provides flexibility and variety for return guests. Elements will be serving the menu for lunch, from 11.30 am to 3.00 pm on Saturday 29 January and Sunday 30 January, while Infiniti will be serving the menu for both lunch and dinner, from 11.00 am to 11.00 pm (last order at 10.00 pm) on Monday 31 January and Tuesday 1 February.
