A Mooncake Gift That Means More — Giving Back with Every Box
7 July 2025 Bangkok, Thailand – Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok debuts a striking and stylish mooncake gift box for Mid-Autumn Festival 2025, grandly designed to honour the wise Year of the Snake. The elegantly drawn and vibrantly coloured Signature Mooncake Box was created in collaboration with two talented artists from ARTSTORY by AutisticThai, a social enterprise that supports autistic children and adults. A portion of the sales proceeds will go to the organization, building on the success of last year's Mooncake Box sales, which raised more than THB 90,000 for ARTSTORY by AutisticThai. Each box of Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok's signature mooncakes is available for early-bird pre-order at THB 1,800 net from 1 – 31 August 2025 (regularly priced at THB 1,888 net), with pick-up beginning on 1 August 2025.
Founded in 2018 and supported by the Autistic Thai Foundation, Artstory's main goal is to enhance and develop the skills of autistic adults and children, enabling them to express their imagination and feelings through artistic works and products.
Crafted as a keepsake, this year’s mooncake box is designed as a fully functional wooden domino set, a thoughtful blend of form, function and storytelling. The sliding lid reveals four individually encased mooncakes, each nestled like a moment waiting to unfold. Beneath the mooncakes lies the game board, imprinted with the original artwork by the artists from Artstory by AutisticThai, a flowing composition inspired by the Year of the Snake. At the base, a complete set of 28 custom domino tiles is arranged.
The artwork features a snake delicately twisting and twirling to showcase its elegance and nimbleness. The image is aptly named "Rhythm of Destiny," symbolising the lore of the snake as calm, charismatic, intuitive and determined, crafting and shaping its own destiny. The design was conceptualized by two talented artists. Sireetorn “Bambam” Puriprecha drew the background illustrations inspired by the fluidity of life through colours and the beauty found in imperfections. Rapeepat “Pi” Athiwattananont created the abstract snake design using bright, auspicious colours like yellow and red to bring the gift of happiness.
From cause and effect to momentum and metamorphosis, the design invites the recipient to not only enjoy what is inside, but to reflect on the beauty of sequence, continuity and evolution, all in one thoughtful, art-forward memento.
Each set includes 4 mooncakes, with flavour choices available from 5 unique options: Durian with Melon Seed & Salted Egg Yolk, Custard, Matcha Macadamia, Nutty Sesame Crunch and Chicken Floss Taro – all beloved Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok signature blends.
