Wine lovers in Chiang Mai now have a new place to call there own, where well over 50 top quality labels—designed to appeal to many palates and pocketbooks—are available to sample by the glass.
The Dhala Wine Lounge, located by the ground level swimming pool at the beautiful Shangri-La Hotel Chiang Mai, is perfect for hotel guests, savvy travellers, and local residents looking to unwind after a hard day’s work. Plenty of indoor (air-con) seating is available, but in the outdoor lounge area you can enjoy the soft evening breeze while relaxing on one of the plush sofas or armchairs. To help the wine curious with their selections, Pakpoom ‘Ton’ Towatcharakun, Chiang Mai’s only resident sommelier, can offer his knowledgeable assistance. From complex German Rieslings, to elegant French Chardonnays, to bold Italian and Chilean reds, Khun Ton can discuss in depth both old world and new world wines. He’s also happy to suggest wines to be matched with food pairings, such as the delicious selection of Italian appetizers and the choice of pasta homemade by their Italian Executive Chef, Paolo Pelosi.
From 6pm till 8pm try the Happy ‘Hour’ of free flow wine, which includes one sparking, one white, three reds, and one rose for just 788 THB net per person.
