PITCHANA Autumn/Winter 2019 Collection: Alpha Female

Forget ‘girl boss’ — this season’s PITCHANA muse is all grown up. PITCHANA’s Autumn/Winter 2019 collection is an ode to the modern working woman, who is as comfortable in the board room as she is on the red carpet.

Full of intricate details and signature PITCHANA flourishes, Alpha Female refuses to compromise between feminine and formidable. Cold steel meets candyfloss in this complex and compelling collection, as soft, sumptuous fabrics and theatrical touches — think ostrich feathers and diamanté detailing — are juxtaposed with 
razor-sharp tailoring and tuxedo-inspired silhouettes. Prepare to embrace contradiction and expect the unconventional.

The collection begins with a twist on the classic day dress, reimagined in several vibrant hues and styles. The first look contrasts sultry cross-back detailing — woven from delicate  chain-link spaghetti straps — with playful lime-green shades, adding brightness and sass to an otherwise seductive silhouette. A neon-bright mini-dress in shocking yellow is demure in design, gathering gracefully below the bust, but amps up the drama with billowing fluted sleeves. 

Next, a black cocktail dress with playful cut-outs — a trademark PITCHANA detail — at the waist, décolletage and back, accentuating curves in only the most flattering places. A daring deep V-neckline adds ferocity to a velvet cocktail dress, resplendent in shades of midnight blue and emerald green. A strapless A-Line mini-dress, cut from black French silk and edged with ostrich feathers along the neckline and hem, adds drama and fluidity to every step.

Ostrich feathers are a key element that reoccur throughout Alpha Female, giving  avant-garde opulence to the collection’s more androgynous looks. For a maximalist and subtly sexy silhouette, opt for the white Crepe de Chine playsuit, adorned with white ostrich feathers along one of the long sleeves, or the black jumpsuit with ostrich-feather detailing across both sleeves.

Turn heads in the collection’s opulent, figure-flattering evening dresses, starting with the off-the-shoulder floor-length dress in chocolate-brown French velvet, with artful drapery around the waist and a strategically placed thigh slit for a form-fitting look. To finish, an Italian silk dress in sorbet shades of lychee and orange blossom, featuring a floor-length train, thigh slit, and cascading diamante detailing from the shoulder to the lower back.
