Bangkok, Thailand: January 21, 2025 – Marriott Bonvoy®, Marriott International’s award-winning travel program and marketplace, is inviting guests to step into a world of epicurean excellence and savor the culinary artistry of Kazutomo Matayoshi, the Michelin two-star chef, with the launch of SEIFU Omakase by Gion Matayoshi at Kissuisen, the popular Japanese restaurant at Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse.

Hailing from Okinawa, Chef Matayoshi is the chef-owner of Gion Matayoshi, the celebrated Kyoto restaurant which achieved two stars in the Michelin Guide 2024. Famed for his unique style of cuisine that blends the timeless rituals of a kaiseki tea ceremony with contemporary flair, all crafted using ingredients hand-selected from top producers, Chef Matayoshi presents menus that are elegant, intricate and highly Instagrammable.

Now, Chef Matayoshi is embarking on his inaugural venture in Bangkok, as Gion Matayoshi takes over the former SEIFU Omakase Bar at Kissuisen. This impressive new dining destination will introduce the flavors, fragrances, textures and techniques of Kyoto to the Thai capital, with highly seasonal dishes crafted using premium delicacies, including the freshest seafood.
Discerning diners can look forward to rare yet sustainably sourced delights such as firefly squid (Hotaru ika), Wakasa tilefish(Amadai), black-throated sea perch(Nodoguro), Okhotsk Atka mackerel(Hokke), and sea urchin(Uni), all expertly prepared and accompanied by an extensive selection of fine wines and sakes.

To coincide with the launch, Chef Matayoshi will join Kissuisen’s Chef Yuichi Mitsui for a series of exclusive dining experiences. Running from January 31st to February 2nd, 2025, this three-day collaboration will feature a spectacular 16-course Kaiseki Omakase Menu that is sure to stimulate the senses and spark conversation. Available for lunch (11.30-13.30 hrs.) or dinner (18.00-20.00 hrs.), this culinary journey is priced at just THB 6,888++ per person for the 16-course set menu, or THB 8,888++ per person including a sake pairing.

The debut of SEIFU Omakase by Gion Matayoshi will elevate Kissuisen to new heights. This exquisite restaurant has been delighting diners in Bangkok ever since it opened its doors in 2023, presenting a refined concept inspired by the philosophical “Godai” elements: earth, fire, wind and water. Now, this new Michelin-standard Omakase venue will complement Chi Izakaya Bar & Dining, Kaen Teppanyaki & Grill, and Mizu Sake Bar & Sake Garden to create a truly holistic Japanese dining experience at Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse.
