Introducing the new celine taillat flat espadrilles. Named after the famous cap taillat beach in st. Tropez, the flat espadrilles have long been the shoe of choice amongst the stylish chic women (and men) who frequent the french riveria town since 1920’s. Made by traditional artisans in Spain where the shoe-making craft of espadrilles first originated in the 13th century, the celine taillat espadrilles used Traditional rope making techniques to spin jute thread into braid, curling the barided rope and hand stitching them into soles. A lightweight cotton canvas are then chosen, either plain or stripe, to make the uppers of the flat espadrilles. The celine taillat flat espadrilles are updated with an elongated front tip and the rope soles are finished with a leather outsole with a rubber layer on the heels. A house siganture “celine” embriodery – first introduced in the winter 2019 ready-to-wear collection – is sitiched on the canvas upper, adding a charming handicraft touch.
