The award-winning Layana Resort & Spa is celebrating a superb victory for Executive Chef Patrick Vitti on the popular Thai TV cooking competition show “Iron Chef”. German-born Patrick won the title of “Winning Challenger Chef (Mediterranean)” in the most recent series of the long-running fan-favorite program, shown weekly on Thai Television Channel 7. To win this year’s “Challenger” title he created 4 dishes using octopus as the main ingredient - St. Jacques Scallop & Octopus, Surf & Turf, Spice Crusted Octopus and Glazed Balsamic Octopus.
As many guests and visitors will testify, Layana has been fortunate to enjoy Patrick’s dynamic and passionate services for the past two years, and he has brought a new level of sophistication and creativity to the menus at the resort’s SeaSky Restaurant.

Michelin-trained Patrick has enjoyed an illustrious career and prior to bringing his many talents to Layana, he worked in various chef roles at Kempinski hotels and, most recently, at The Charles Hotel, a Rocco Forte Hotel in Munich. His cooking philosophy is a modern combination of Mediterranean and Thai cuisine, based on quality, freshness and variety, and his signature dishes at SeaSky are both varied and complex, all tasting magnificent!
