For the 2019 holiday campaign, Donatella Versace guest edits the second edition of Baroness: a London- based publication co-founded by Matthew Holroyd and Dazed & Confused editor-in-chief Isabella Burley that occupies an unclaimed space between fashion, art and identity politics.
The magazine features a fashion narrative penned and visualized by performance artist Sarah Baker.
Baker is a storyteller and entrepreneur whose body of work spans photography, film, theatre and scent.
She draws inspiration from vintage romance novels and cites Jackie Collins as one of her personal heroines.
Her talent as a raconteur, combined with Versace’s designs, makes for a spectacular showcase of prose and imagery.
Set over six chapters, the story follows lead characters Angelina and The Baroness - played by Sarah Baker and Helena Christensen- as they navigate tumultuous affairs and overcome adversities. Channelling a nostalgic mood, this tale takes the tired femme fatale genre
and gives it a fresh perspective: portraying support, empowerment and sisterhood.
“I am thrilled to partner with Sarah Baker on this exciting holiday saga. She’s a visionary and knows exactly how to represent
the Versace woman. My designs empower and this campaign fully represents that.”
