The event began with participants — children with mobility challenges (whom we call “champion children”) and their families — ascending the 344 steps to the top of Phu Khao Thong, supported by volunteers or “life changers,” who are judges, associate judges, court officials, and children who have received court orders. These supporters walked alongside them, offering encouragement and support throughout the journey. Along the way, participants paused to enjoy scenic views, ring bells, and capture memorable moments. At the summit, a symbolic “Creating Impressions” activity was held to mark their success, followed by the presentation of souvenirs to the children.
The group then listened to a Dharma talk delivered by Phra Mahanaphan Santibhaddho, Assistant Abbot of Wat Saket, who emphasized perseverance, patience, and resilience in the face of challenges. The session concluded with a prayer and the offering of robes to the sacred relics.
“This activity is an opportunity for everyone to learn, build new friendships, and realize that no matter the limitations or obstacles, with determination and persistence, we can reach our goals.”
Sasamon Sanguansin, Associate Judge and Project Leader, explained the objectives:
“We hope this project will teach children and youth the value of effort, endurance, and goal-setting through a powerful real-life experience. We sincerely thank all the participants for inspiring us with their courage.”
Siripassorn Piyanantawarin, Associate Judge, shared her impression:
“This project shows us that love, support, and perseverance are forces that can truly change lives.”
The “Climb to Change a Life” activity was more than just a physical ascent of 344 steps. It was a meaningful journey filled with encouragement and hope. Each step taken — whether independently or with the help of compassionate supporters — reflected the power of perseverance, resilience, and belief in one’s own potential.
The children and youth who joined this climb proved that physical limitations cannot hinder a determined heart. Their achievement not only transformed their own lives but also inspired families, communities, and society at large to witness the true strength of the human spirit.
