The Chao Phraya’s most popular hotel duo welcome art lovers to kick off the festive season with a riverside exhibition featuring two established and two emerging Thai artists.

From 4 December 2019 to 15 January 2020, “River of Change” will run in venues throughout the complex: the Art Lounge at Anantara Riverside on the ground floor, The Art Room on the 11th floor of Avani+ Riverside, with its panoramic river views, and the Pop-Up Art Space on the second floor of the connecting Riverside Plaza.

The exhibition features works of innovative Thai creativity. The exhibiting artists include Thanachai Ujjin ‘Pod’, an art graduate from Chulalongkorn University, who went on to become the lead singer of the band Moderndog and whose abstract paintings take audiences on a journey of self-expression. Multi-faceted artist Wisut Ponnimit will show why he is considered one of the key foreign artists in Japan’s manga scene, through a collection demonstrating his distinct storytelling techniques. As for the up-and-coming talent showing their work in this groundbreaking exhibition, award-winning photographer Siwanat Phongboonkoomlarp will be exploring the pure lives of children in a collection that aims to capture “life snapshots”. Illustrator and art teacher Mai Intarakanchit will be urging audiences to observe how emotions can affect physicality through her distinct portraiture.

As the exhibition kicks off the festive season, it also nods to the hotels’ plans for the new year, in which Avani+ and Anantara Riverside will be curating more art experiences for guests and visitors.

Pathumwan Princess Hotel officially commenced its seasonal festivities on Monday 2nd December when the impressive Christmas tree in the lobby area was lit up in a star-studded ceremony.

And once again, the hotel demonstrated its caring side by featuring a highly successful “Afternoon Tea” fundraiser in aid of the Rajavithi Home for Girls. The Home, located only a few kilometers from the hotel, provides wonderful care, education and ultimately job placement for orphaned and poorly cared for children aged 5-18 years. It was represented at the ceremony by its President, Khun Saisom Wongsasulak, and a number of the Home’s children who delightfully entertained guests with Christmas carol singing and Thai dancing. The fundraiser, together with other donations, raised THB 50,000 for Rajavithi Home for Girls, Celebrities who kindly gave up their time to join the occasion included Peter Denman, well known actor from Channel 3’s drama series “Rak Plik Lock”; Khun Fon Kanyapak Intaraksa, First Runner up, Miss Tourism Queen Thailand 2017; Khun Auraiwan Pattanasilp, Miss Universe Thailand 2017; Khun Cat (Arthitiya Benjapak), Miss Grand Srisaket 2018 and Miss Polo Thailand and Asia 2019; Khun O (Krisada Nimala) - Mister Star Bangkok Thailand 2019 and Mister Grand International 2019. Stefan concluded by saying: “Christmas is a joyous time, and also a time to remember those less fortunate than ourselves. And so, as part of MBK’s “Tree for Life” project and with the welcome help of celebrities, guests and visitors, we try to bring a touch of happiness and Christmas spirit to disadvantaged children in Thailand. We have been delighted today to welcome Khun Saisom Wongsasulak and the children from Rajavithi Home for Girls and we hope that we have helped make this year a very happy Christmas for them”.
