Diving into two decades of horological excellence, Orient, the renowned Japanese watchmaker, made waves with a special celebration of its iconic sports dive design watch series. The event, marking the 20th anniversary of the Orient Diver Design, also unveiled a limited edition timepiece that pays homage to its sea-inspired legacy. Held at Central @ Central World's 1st floor Event Arena, this gathering represented Orient Thailand's grand return to full-scale exhibitions after a six-year hiatus, captivating enthusiasts on the evening of September 17, 2024.

Leading the event was Mr Yudthapol Tantivongsakij, Managing Director of United Krungthong Trading Co., Ltd., the official distributor of ORIENT watches in Thailand. He officially opened the ceremony, joined by Ms Yuki Yaguchi from Seiko Epson Corporation, and Central's executives, Ms Siriporn Lijutipoom, Omnichannel Category Director for Luxury, Young Fashion, and Watches, and Mr Thossapol Varaeksiri, Head of Merchandising – Watch. After the opening remarks, event host Mr Can Atirut Kittipatana invited Mr Kom Sajjavarodom, Orient Brand Manager, and Ms Yuki Yaguchi to share the history of the special limited edition timepiece in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Orient Diver Design.

"Since its debut in 2004, the Orient Diver Design has been an important model, recognised by the dolphin symbol engraved on the case back, which collectors fondly call the 'Orient Mako.' The standout feature of this 20th anniversary limited edition is the gradient blue dial, from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock, representing the beauty of the surrounding ocean of Japan. The dial is embossed with wave patterns for added depth and features the words' Anniversary Edition' at the 4 o'clock position, perfectly aligned with the number 20 on the bezel, a clever design to mark the 20-year celebration. The limited-edition watch comes in two versions: the Solar Power Chronograph and the Automatic, offering collectors a choice. Even though the Chronograph Solar Power model had previously launched in blue and red dials, this limited-edition blue dial emphasises the brand's focus on the sporty Solar Power Chronograph model in the near future," Mr Kom explained.

The event also featured a special guest performance by renowned actor Mr Lee Thanat Lowkhunsombat, who shared his personal fondness for Orient watches, saying, "I've always liked blue, and I enjoy coordinating my outfits with the event I'm attending. A watch is an essential accessory for me. I prefer sporty, classic designs because they suit any occasion. Limited-edition watches are even more special because they feel unique. I really like the 20th -anniversary limited edition from Orient because of its sporty dive design and the extra details. It's a watch that works with any outfit and for every occasion."

The special limited edition sport dive watches come in two models: the automatic diver with a blue gradient dial and Arabic numerals from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock, golden hands, and a stainless-steel case measuring 41.8mm. It's water-resistant to 200 meters and houses the in-house automatic F6922 calibre movement with a 40-hour power reserve. The second model is the Solar Power Chronograph with an aluminium bezel and six notched positions. The bezel is blue from 0 to 20 minutes and black for the remainder. The solar-powered chronograph features three subdials for 24-hour, 60-minute, and second time measurements. The 12 o'clock Arabic numeral, inspired by the original Orient Diver Design, is coated in luminous material, as are the indices and hands, ensuring visibility in low light. Only 3,000 units of the 20th anniversary limited edition will be produced worldwide. In Thailand, the automatic version is limited to 180 pieces, while the Solar Power version will be available in just 100 pieces.

These limited-edition watches are perfect for individuals who love the freedom of the sky and sea, as well as collectors who appreciate sporty dive design watches that are practical for everyday use. This series pays homage to the timeless legacy of the sea.
You can experience the special edition watches in person at Orient counters nationwide.
