Recognizing the widespread impact of marine degradation, not only on Thailand's environment but also on future food security and the national economy, this event aims to increase sustainable opportunities for food and economic development for future generations.
"The blue crab release activity is a vital part of marine and environmental conservation. Today, we constantly harvest marine life for food. If we only consume without considering the replenishment of marine populations, species such as blue crabs and sea crabs, which are widely consumed, are at high risk of extinction. Conservation efforts to increase marine animal populations are essential to prevent the disappearance of blue crabs from Thai seas," said the Director.
The crabs released during the event were 20–25 days old and capable of self-feeding. They were sourced from a nursery and breeding center and released into mangrove areas, which serve as natural habitats and breeding grounds for blue crabs and other marine life.
"I encourage everyone to participate in releasing marine species to promote conservation and restore the abundance of marine resources, which are vital to Thailand's biodiversity," he added.
"The 'Releasing Blue Crabs into Thai Seas' activity aligns with our company’s policy to prioritize marine resource conservation, which is critical for Thailand's food security and economic stability. Releasing blue crabs allows these marine animals to grow and reproduce, increasing their population. Blue crabs are a key economic species, and this initiative not only contributes to sustainable food sources but also creates sustainable livelihoods for people. We hope this effort will serve as a meaningful opportunity for communities to thrive."
This event, supported by partners including Corona Casa, Central Phuket, Robinson Lifestyle Thalang, Tree Monkey Restaurant Phuket, and Sawasdee Phuket Company, highlights the collective effort to preserve marine ecosystems and ensure a sustainable future for food and economic
