Khao Lak, Phang Nga – June 2, 2025 – Thailand’s surfing spotlight just got brighter as the Phang Nga Provincial Office of Tourism and Sport joined forces with the vibrant Khao Lak surf community and international wave-riding powerhouse, the Asian Surf Co from Bali, Indonesia, to successfully host the “Khaolak Grom Patrol 2025”. This high-energy youth surf competition, held at the stunning Pakarang Beach in Takua Pa District, brought together young surfers from 10 countries to battle it out on the waves of southern Thailand—setting the stage for Khao Lak to rise as a world-class surf and sports tourism destination.
Held from May 29–31, 2025, this year’s edition came with a special twist under the theme “Surf with Respect – Compete with Heart.” For the first time, the event partnered with Bali’s Asian Surf Co to elevate Thailand’s surf scene on a global scale. Young wave riders from countries including Indonesia, Japan, Australia, the U.S., the Philippines, Malaysia, and more, came to test their skills and celebrate the sport they love.

The two-day celebration wasn’t just about competition—it was a full-blown cultural and creative beach fest! Locals, travelers, and surf fans flocked to the event, where art workshops for kids, marine conservation exhibitions, and a lively “Beach Clean Together” activity brought everyone together with purpose. The beach vibes continued into the night with live performances from Thai favorites Armchair and Serious Bacon, keeping the energy high and the crowd buzzing.

At the heart of it all, the surf battles, brought serious stoke with unusually large waves adding to the thrill. Thai youth surfers made a big splash, with three local rising stars winning four championship titles: Jirapat “Earng” – Girls’ Under 14 (Shortboard); Natthakron Sae-Iew – Boys’ Under 18 (Shortboard); and Ramil Arromchuen – Boys’ Under 16 (Shortboard) and Under 18 (Longboard).
The event was made possible by strong collaboration among Phang Nga’s public and private sectors, with key support from the Phang Nga Provincial Office of Tourism and Sport and the local surf community. Organizers spent over six months preparing to ensure a safe, inclusive, and memorable experience for young athletes, families, and international visitors alike. Every detail—from competition logistics to community engagement—reflected a deep respect for local culture, nature, and the surf lifestyle.
