On 20 October, St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies hosted the “Phuket Medical Workshop” at Courtyard Phuket Town in Phuket, Thailand. A total of 18 students from international schools in the country convened for a series of essential life-saving workshops led by Nalinee Jiemvithayanukul, Manager of Student Recruitment for East Asia, at SGU.
SGU has conducted regular medical workshops to promote the importance of basic life-saving techniques and knowledge about cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

SGU has conducted regular medical workshops to promote the importance of basic life-saving techniques and knowledge about cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
Nalinee said: “Our regular medical workshops not only underscore our commitment to equipping aspiring medical students with essential life-saving skills, but also serve as a platform to explore the world of medicine and understand SGU’s programs and tracks. These events allow students from international schools across Thailand to learn more about the vast professional opportunities available for doctors in the US by connecting directly with our local representatives.”

Reflecting on her experience at the workshop, Laura Chen at British International School Phuket said: “The workshop has given me the confidence and knowledge to pursue medical schools abroad, solidifying my path toward becoming a medical practitioner. Also, learning essential life-saving techniques has provided invaluable tools to support my academic ambitions and future professional career.”
In addition to teaching basic life-saving techniques, this event provided a platform for students and their families to engage in discussions about potential career paths, gain deeper insights into SGU, understand MD program specifics, and explore the admissions process.
For more information on the programs and tracks available through SGU School of Medicine, visit SGU’s website or contact Nalinee Jiemvithayanukul, Manager of Student Recruitment for East Asia, at [email protected].
