GranMonte Vineyard and Winery is Thailand’s leading family-run and owned wine producer. GranMonte’s international award-winning wines are made from 100% estate-grown wine grapes by oenologist Nikki Lohitnavy, the daughter of the estate owners; Sakuna & Visooth Lohitnavy. GranMonte planted its first roots in 1999 on the 40-acre plot of land, that was once a cashew orchard. The family-owned vineyard is located in the Northeast of Thailand, Khao Yai, and situated in the foothills of the UNESCO World Heritage Khao Yai National Park. GranMonte Vineyard and Winery was awarded “Best National Producer – Thailand'' in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2023 and 2024 by Europe’s biggest international wine competition, AWC Vienna. GranMonte successfully registered “Khao Yai Wine” as a Geographical Indication in 2018. Wines of “Khao Yai Wine” Geographical Indication are made according to the GI's established and globally-accepted winemaking standards, and entail the grapes to be Vitis vinifera grown exclusively in the Khao Yai region.
GranMonte Vineyard and Winery is a part of “Khao Yai Wine” Geographical Indication. The main estate lies in a valley 350 m above sea level and has a wine grape planting area of 100 rai (40 acres). An additional 200 rai (80 acres) of GranMonte’s planting areas are throughout Khao Yai region.
Current varieties are Syrah,Cabernet Sauvignon, Durif, Grenache,Chenin Blanc, Verdelho, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Alternative varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Barbera, Marsanne and Roussanne. Only the grapes grown and harvested by GranMonte are used to make the wines of authentic Khao Yai origin. GranMonte Vineyard and Winery is also the recipient of the Thailand Tourism Award in 2021.
Winery
Asoke Valley Winery is GranMonte’s winery, which began its operation in late January 2009 and operates hand-in-hand with GranMonte’s vineyard property. The winery has a maximum capacity to produce 300,000 bottles of wine per year. This state-of-the-art winery uses imported wine making equipment from France, Germany, Italy and Australia. Both the winery and vineyard operations are under the direction of Nikki Lohitnavy, the in-house oenologist and winemaker.
