THE REGION’S LEADING HOTEL GROUP CLINCHES FOUR PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS
For the fifth consecutive year, Accor has won Best Global Hotel Chain at the 30th Annual TTG Travel Awards Ceremony held in Bangkok, Thailand. The group also celebrated the inauguration of Raffles Hotel Singapore into the TTG Hall of Fame and Sofitel Legend Metropole was awarded Best City Hotel in Hanoi. Accor’s economy brand, ibis, also won Best Budget Hotel Brand for the sixth time.

The TTG Travel Awards is the most coveted and influential awards in the regions’ travel industry that honour leading organisations and individuals who consistently demonstrate a commitment towards service excellence. Winners are selected by readers of TTG trade magazines through a voting process.

“Accor has achieved some very significant milestones over the past year - launching new hotel brands, opening our 1100th hotel in Asia and announcing our brand new lifestyle loyalty programme, Accor Live Limitless (ALL). We are very proud to achieve this award as it recognises the hard work of the 300,000 people working across our hotels and corporate offices throughout the world. We are in the midst of a transformation in which we will welcome customers to live, work and play in our ecosystem of brands – we are so excited for the limitless opportunities ahead,” said Patrick Basset, Chief Operating Officer for AccorHotels Upper Southeast & Northeast Asia.
Patrick Basset has a long affiliation with Asia, moving to Thailand in 1993 to lead Accor’s flagship hotel at that time, Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square. He went on to take up various senior executive roles with Accor throughout Asia.  Currently, he oversees more than 185 hotels, 41,966 rooms and 27,000 employees in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, South Korea, Japan and the Maldives.

On hand to accept the Best Budget Hotel Brand award, Ianic Menard, Vice President Sales, Marketing and Distribution for Accor Upper Southeast & Northeast Asia and the Maldives, said, “Our ibis brand continues to be a trail-blazer in the economy space. Open and welcoming to all, ibis hotels are recognised across the globe for making travel easy, affordable and fun.”

Accor is the largest and most geographically diverse hotel group in Asia Pacific. The group currently operates 39 hotel brands within its portfolio and opens one hotel every three days on average within the region. Accor opened its 1100th hotel in Asia Pacific in June 2019 with the launch of Sofitel Beijing Central.
