LazGam

LASER tag is the perfect activity for the strategically minded, or simply for those who fancy some action-packed, laser-blasting fun in the comfort of air-conditioning. Avoid being hit by your rivals’ laser beams, and then target them with your own. LazGam, located in Holiday Inn Bangkok Sukhumvit hotel, offers a scifi-esque, futuristic arena complete with strobe lights and black lighting to fully immerse you into the adrenaline-filled experience. Play either in teams, or every man for himself, at B350 per person for 15 minutes in the arena. Party packages with pizza and drinks are also available.

Combat Zone 62 Paintball

IDEAL for older kids and teens as well as the competitively-minded, paintball provides an exciting adrenaline rush in a safe and controlled environment, complete with protective masks and suits. Use military-style tactics and strategies to splatter your rivals with multicoloured paint, and try to capture their flag before they get their hands on yours.

Thai Wake Park

THAI Wake Park is the perfect destination to escape the city life while still remaining in town. Not only is it a haven for experienced wake boarders with the park’s extensive facilities, but it is also a great place to swim in the crystal-blue lake, tan, and enjoy great food. For those who haven’t wakeboarded before, kneeboarding is also available. Riding tickets for non-members start at B850 for two hours (check website for full details). Wakeboard rental starts at B500; helmets at B60.

Flow House Bangkok

BEACHSIDE vibes and continuous waves ensure Flow House Bangkok brings surf to the city in style. Adept surfers will be delighted with the power of the wave simulator machine; ditto beginners, who can start with body-boarding before taking the plunge (most likely literally) to attempt stand-up surfing. Skilled instructors are on-hand for every session to help each person learn, no matter the level, from true beginners to advanced tricks. The onsite Surf Café offers a variety of sandwiches, salads and smoothies. Open from 2pm-11pm on weekdays, and from 10am-11pm on weekends and public holidays. The walk-in rate is B750 per hour. Promotions and membership deals are listed on Flow House Bangkok’s website.

Escape Break

WANT to put your detective skills to the test? Do you work well against the clock? Escape Break is perfect for those who enjoy challenges and mysteries! Use your brain to solve puzzles and find clues in a range of settings. The company’s third branch, located in Silom Road (less than a minute’s walk from Sala Daeng BTS station, Exit 2), is its largest set-up to date, offering seven rooms and four games to choose from. The BigChilli tried out the Relic Rush adventure, which centred around searching for an artefact hidden within ancient ruins. We had one hour to complete the puzzle and we’re happy to report we succeeded – with 11 seconds left on the clock! The other exciting themes on offer include Ghost Ship, Kowloon Captive, and Outbreak. Large groups can split up and compete against each other in separate rooms (great fun, and an excellent team building exercise). Pricing starts at B1,700 for two people, and each room can accommodate up to seven. Escape Break’s other branches are located in Koh Samui and Siem Reap.

Board Game Cafés

AS our social life becomes increasingly digitised, new coffee shops are opening all around Bangkok to encourage face-to-face interaction through the likes of Cluedo and Monopoly. These cafés come with a library of board games that cater to old-school souls and are a great way to alleviate boredom. You can avoid the Bangkok heat all while unmasking a murderer and building new estates. Board game cafés are great places to meet with your friends or family for a fun, interactive yet relaxing activity. Check out our full round up online at: bit.ly/1Qevcnh.
