Mr Quentin Job, Managing Director of Pernod Ricard (Thailand), on behalf of Chivas Regal, a leading Scotch whiskey brand, presented the final round of “CHIVAS MASTERS”, a project which aims to improve skills of bartenders and build a global community for bartenders by searching for creative talents to compete on a global stage, used Chivas Regal as an ingredient to create a unique flavor. The drink must be inspired by the bartender’s very own character, what drives his passion, and what he is most proud of. These elements must be translated into a one-of-a-kind cocktail with Chivas Regal. Experienced these unique flavors in the final round of “CHIVAS MASTERS” at Chow Cafe & Bar, Metropole Thong Lor, the other day.
The heartwarming event welcomed its amicable guests with exquisite beverages of Chivas Regal’s OG signature cocktail Old Man Boulevardier – the classic red potion with a hint of Chili Gomme spiciness complemented by crispy bacon toppings for those who love a strong robust flavor, and the Ginger Gomme featured easy-to-drink sweet and tangy Scotch Ginger Collins.

Chosen from all applicants countrywide, the top 5 talented bartenders began their day of the competition with a learning session in order to create each one’s unique whisky blend – “The Blend”. By studying the competition’s main component – CHIVAS Regal – through the quality ingredients via all 5 senses, the competitors have created “The Blend” to each distinctive taste of well-balanced concoction of Chivas Regal whisky selections. Within a few hours, the final round arrived, and the 5 brilliant bartenders brought out marvelous ideas and creativities for their signature cocktail recipes with aspiring stories from moments of past experiences in the bartending industry. The 5 contestants were given the task to create the unique signature recipes within 10 minutes using their own ingredients to be served along with “The Blend” or the special blends of whisky each bartender has created in the previous session. There can only be one winner and amongst 5 talented contestants in the final round including Attapon De-silva from Q&A Bar, Pratchaya Netmarn from 008 Bar, Krit Pragobdee from Liberation and the Popular Vote Winner Alexey Poltavsky fromGardens Bar & Gastronomy, Davide Sambo was announced CHIVAS MASTERS LOCAL 2019 WINNER. Davide has created the exceptional cocktail inspired by a moment of the past from when he was in law school. Once, he had to write a report to define himself in which he recalled one of his father’s meaningful quotes “When you define yourself, you lose both who you are and who you can be”. The cocktail that defines its maker was then named Undefined and can only be given definition by its tasters. The aspiring elixir concocted with mixtures of Chivas 18 and Davide’s homemade Jasmine Shrub Cordial made from jasmine rice is a stirred cocktail, topped with homemade cherry scented soda and garnished with olives infused in lemon peel and coconut essence. |

While Davide Sambo, Winner of CHIVAS MASTERS LOCAL 2019, shared his feelings “I can’t believe what I’ve heard. The contest has given me such an amazing experience. I am happy with the success and very glad to have the opportunity to compete against these 4 talented bartenders. The most important element in this competition for me is the support from my family, friends and everyone at Soho Hospitality. I consider this win to be ours. I am honored and proud to have this opportunity to be the country’s representative in the global round. I promise to keep training and prepare myself as best as I can.
