Piya Ahchariyasripong, the Chairman of Executive Committee of Gems Pavilion Group, one of Thailand’s leading jewelers, has recently organized the newest and most splendid ‘The Icon Boutique’ by Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. The event was launched along with ‘The Iconic of Gems by Gems Pavilion’, the first exhibition displaying how to make fine jewelry in Thailand. A special collection, ‘The Sparkles’, epitomizing diamond sparkles for each time of happiness, as well as a highlight jewelry were tailored for display there, in which a lot of celebs participated, namely Surachanee Limatibul, Natapree Pichaironarongsongkram, Akarat Vanarat, Pornpavee Neerasingh and Ployvarin Songpakorn. Both the event and exhibition were held at Gems Pavilion, on the 1st floor of Icon Siam Shopping Complex in Bangkok.
The Icon Boutique aims to give jewelry aficionados understanding about the brand and impression with its vision, taste, smell, sound and touch. Such experience can be gained via luxurious design of the newly open shop of Gems Pavilion. Another objective is to emphasize the fact that the company is a leading manufacturer of fine jewelry of the country and represent its unique characteristic. Besides, ‘The Iconic of Gems by Gems Pavilion’ Exhibition was regarded as the first savoir faire ever of Thailand as all processes of making fine jewelry were publicly shown. The first process is entitled, Fine Design, which focuses on designing and creating a work meticulously. The second is known as Fine Material because only raw materials with good quality were selected for the work. The last one, Fine Workmanship, includes technical craftsmanship of every process. The exhibition also features diamond selection, decoration and assembly, precise diamond setting, apart from pearl stringing by skilled craftsmen. This is the first time in Thailand when all jewelry production processes were presented with care.
The opening of the event exudes the warmth of many Thai celebrities congratulating the organizer Piya Ahchariyasripong. At the welcome speech session, the Chairman of Executive Committee of Gems Pavilion Group said, “Gems Pavilion is iconic of fine jewelry as much as the Icon Siam is for Thailand. To become an icon of fine jewelry, we focus our work on 1. Fine Design, 2. Fine Material and 3. Fine Workmanship. Without all of them, we could not come this far. That’s why I’d like to show you all the production processes of both the special collection and the ones displayed here.”

Janitha Thiravorachai, Managing Director of Design Unit of Gems Pavilion Group, added, “Besides being the grand opening of the Iconic Boutique of the company, we also proudly presented, The Sparkles, a new collection of the genuinely fine jewelry, as its elements were all selected by the designer to make the right assembled piece of work. We can say that the collection, despite a small piece of work, was successful in terms of care and meticulous craftsmanship. Moreover, it can be used in daily life. For example, a brooch, if not used to pin on a shirt, can be split into two and used as earrings. Anyone interested in how it works can visit The Icon Boutique.”
In addition, the event highlighted gorgeous mini fashion shows. To name but a few are The Emblem and The Sparkles. The first one impressed a lot of audience with a brooch with a suspending pendant to serve as a necklace. The second was created by Kittinuch Amatayakul, a new fashion designer full of passion. She talked about the inspiration for this fashion show, relating to The Sparkles collection that represented our moment of joy. Such moment can be a celebration, our confidence or feeling of self, as well as a spark and some confetti at a party. As a new designer, she had to conduct a market survey on customers’ need, especially the ones for Gems Pavilion. Then, she did a drawing design until everything was alright for production process. The process was difficult because she needed to combine and present emotion and the collection’s image to be like the one the craftsman wanted it to be. If the degree of a diamond is tilted to any side, even in the tiniest point, feeling of the collection will suddenly change. For The Sparkles, cushion and taper forms of diamond were mainly used.
Worawut Ahchariyasripong, a young executive who determinedly organized the event, said, “The most interesting of the exhibition, in particular, is the display of production processes of our company. There are four zones. The first one includes diamond selection via vision from human’s eyes to achieve quality of Gems Pavilion. Normally, out of 100 % of diamond under this process are 20% selected and 80% returned to the dealer. The second zone features diamond setting. To be precise and neat, the setting is done by a microscope machine. The third zone is gold setting, which includes a post-design process with ceramic to ensure mutual understanding in every inch of a jewelry created by a designer and a craftsman. The last zone includes the assembly. Today, we showcase pearl string of which each pearl was tied and recorded. We are confident that every piece of work by Gems Pavilion is of the world-class quality, its materials high standard and our craftsmen skillful and expertise. Our technique lies in tiny elements brought together neatly, gently and precisely.”
