“Nawapol ‘Ter’ Thamrongrattanarit”, an acclaimed movie director and author, gave a brief talk about his special project made by HUAWEI Mate 20 Series that “In addition to a credible Leica Triple Camera on the rear for superb video recording, HUAWEI Mate 20 smartphones also utilize AI cinematography technology so each user can customize a video clip with real-time portrait coloring, or a depth of field. In short, the phone allows everyone to be a vlogger or even a professional moviemaker. I was given an opportunity to make a five-episode short film entitled ‘From Mate to Mate’. I drew an inspiration from souvenirs travelers tend to purchase for their loved ones waiting at home such as sweets, cosmetics, or small memorabilia. I personally think ‘The best souvenir is time and moment’ as I think a touching moment during a journey when one is thinking about their family members or friends is the most precious present one would take back home. My short film series is about five friend circles with unique stories and all of them were candidly filmed by HUAWEI Mate 20 Series phones. Making a film by a smartphone instead of a camera significantly take me to a new chapter of filmmaking since a smartphone can immediately capture instantaneous moments and I can try challenging various filming limitations since a smartphone is generally smaller than a professional camera.
