The leading Italian fashion house, Antonio Marras, and SORAPOL, the London-based Thai brand by Sorapol Chawaphatnakul will impressively interpret the elegant and refined beauty of Thai textiles display in an exhibition, “L’Elegante Thai” – Thai and Italian Craftmanship Collaboration. The exhibition will be held from August 20 until September 1, 2019. There will be Pop-Up Stores of both international brands happened in Thailand for the first time at ICONSIAM.

We aim that this exhibition will proclaim the artistic savoir-faire of Thai craftsmanship from generations to generations, which has brought about income and pride to local artists and Thai designers in a sustainable way.” The “L’Elegante Thai” exhibition is the Thai-Italian Craftmanship Collaboration, which is created from the love and passion for the highly refined Thai textiles and craftsmanship that young generation shall preserve and enhance its reputation internationally. Leading Italian designer, Antonio Marras, founder of the brand “Antonio Marras”, and Sorapol Chawaphatnakul, the Thai designer and founder of “SORAPOL” will mesmerize special collections under the concept “The World Fashion Craftsmanship: Enriching the Pride of Siam” by creating contemporary designs applying the brands’ signatures particularly for the exhibition. |
| For Marras’s special collection in this exhibition, he applies the Italian artistic style using multicolour techniques and creative expression on crafts. He focuses on learning new materials especially the uniqueness of Thai fabrics, which he views it very charming. It is full of imagination and mysterious, yet exciting. Such story telling is valued added to both luxury and contemporary so that the wearers feel more special than other normal dresses. The handwoven Thai textiles is concealed with knowledge and culture. The highlight of the collection is the glamourous evening gown, which combines differences into one. He uses three different shade of colours: grey, deep red burgundy, and dark brown, merging together creatively and uniquely. |  |
 | Meanwhile, SORAPOL’s special collection in this exhibition is inspired by Diamond pattern motif, which has been presented in Thai textiles for over hundreds of years. It is known as the basic of traditional Thai pattern that has become legendary representing Thainess. For this collection, SORAPOL has created and mixed various elements of diamond pattern with modern techniques to present past and present. The highlight piece uses handwoven Thai fabric applying the laser cutting technique and matches with fabric from Italy, thus, this dress can be compared as if the united of two cultures. |
The exhibition, “L’Elegante Thai” Thai – Italian Craftsmanship Collaboration will be held from August 20 to September 1, 2019 at Thara Hall, M Floor, ICONSIAM. On the grand opening, honourable guests will be amazed by the fashion show and have the opportunity to bid the highlight dresses of both brands. Proceed after expenses will be donated to “Made by Beautiful People” charity project at ICONCRAFT.
