Nowadays, international programmes become very competitive amongst Thailand’s leading educational institutions to prompt students for the globalised market as AEC has been implemented. That being said, one of the renowned universities which provide international curricular is Mahidol University International College (MUIC). Lately, MUIC’s International Hospitality Management programme has been accredited by TedQual, which is the accreditation of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation. The programme is the very first programme in Thailand that receives the accreditation, causing it to become widely accepted. The courses offered vary from Service Quality, Marketing, and Human Resource Management. The purpose of which is to prepare the students to utilise strategic approach to the effective management of people in an organization by learning from the bottom up, so that they have fully understanding about all aspects of each division. Also, basic management courses such as Finance, Statistics, and Economics are provided along with foreign language courses (German, Chinese and Japanese) which is considered one of the programme’s strength. More importantly, the students have opportunity to attend an internship at Salaya Pavillion Hotel to immerse themselves in a four-star hotel environment in 4 departments including: 1. Front Office 2. Food and Beverage 3. Kitchen 4. House Keeping Moreover, MUIC has collaborations with organizations in both national and international levels to offer the students to be equpped with management skills. Being interviewed about what they have gained from the programme, celebrated MUIC’s International Management alumni all agreed that academic knowledge was not the mere gain, but also life lessons which have shaped them to realise the importance of dream aspiration and giving back to the society. Khun Wisa Benjabhornchai (Hoon): Pilot/ First Officer, NokScoot Airline
Upon her completion of the degree, she aspired to fulfill her dream that she has become the fourth female pilot of NokScoot Airline. “Never underestimate your ability. I have never dreamed about what I have been today, but I always asked myself what I wanted to be, and figured out the answer. Whenever obstacles came on my way, I reminded myself to be persistent, never give up and try the best I could.”
Khun Kongwut Chaiwongkajorn: Chef and Owner, Locus Native Food Lab
Food creator under the concept “difficulty is simplicity”
Kongwut’s dream as a chef became vivid after he graduated from MUIC. Recently, he is the onwer and chef of Locus Native Food Lab, Chiang Rai. His ultimate goal in his food creation is to raise the values of local ingredients of Chiang Rai. By this, it is not only about ingredients or procedures, but the local wisdom that he intends to preserve. His simple way of life in Chiang Rai made his purpose of life more manifested with the saying “If nature nurtures me, I must nurture her in return.” The saying is his life’s turning point, leading him to the only purpose of living: self dedication for the welfare of the society.
Khun Pattamon Mekavarakul (Beau): Managing Director, Instill Agency and Vice President, Cape Dara Resort Pattaya
The best point is my starting point. For her, balancing two jobs does not seem to be a difficulty for her since both jobs are what she loves.
Upon her degree completion from MUIC, she pursued a Master degree in Marketing & Communication and Advertising and Design in England. She then has taken a responsiblity of her family business as an executive of the hotel with her determinatioin to buiding a well-known hotel branding. She also established an advertising and PR agency to provide full services of exceptional PR and branding strategic plans.
Khun Saruch Kamoltai (Flash): Marketing Director, Sarach Marketing Ltd.
After recieving a degree form MUIC, Saruch, who has grown up with a bond with tamarind, his homeland’s domestic plant, started his business about processed products of Tamarind. The products have been well-accepted globally, resulting in more than hundred million per year. This success also brought about the better welfare of the local people.
Khun Christopher Right: Owner of Chris English School, actor and English Delivery’s presenter
Christopher Right has raised an awareness of the importance of English teaching.
He earned a living by starting with other jobs before becoming a full-time English tutor and gained popularity in no time with his fun but useful techniques. Despite a humble start, he always believed that success would be achieved eventually.
Khun Orapat Thanakitpathompong: Designer and brand owner, P.MITH
Khun Orapat started a men fashion brand to promote the trendy style of men outfits, and her business reached its peak with her passion and meticulosity. P.MITH becomes successful in fashion industry and took part in the Bangkok Fashion Week Project under the concept “Boy of Bangkok” which has been witnessed on the international runway.
