Shopping mall’s special event brings a taste of Phuket and Koh Phangan to Bangkok

The Em District World’s Pop Up Beach (#empopupbeach) has kicked off today at Quartier Avenue, G Floor, Emquartier, bringing island-style vibes to the heart of the city.

Celebrating two of Thailand’s most popular islands, Phuket and Koh Phangan, the event has a grand beach setting featuring a wide range of cool pop-up shops and restaurants, live bands and DJs, fashion shows and some sizzling dance performances.

Through Wednesday April 13, the event will have a Phuket theme. Expect to find all kinds of tasty eats and drinks from The Never Ending Summer, Nitiya Kaiyang, San Saab, Phuket Town, Saab Eli, Ban Jong Phat, We Love Fruit and Studio Lam. You’ll also be able to learn how to make traditional Thai perfume (Nam Ob), create artful dishes with Khoon Duang, and, with a bit of help from Gotji, an award winning mixologist who works with Jamie Oliver, also whip up your own summer cocktail.

Roxy Pop-Up shop, Another Summer Story and Vacation Shop will showcase all the hottest summer trends. And the entertainment line-up is not to be missed.

Tonight (Thursday April 7) Rasmee Isan Soul will take to the stage from 6pm-7pm followed by a live set from the renowned DJ Maft Sai (Studio Lam) from 7pm-10pm. Thai contemporary acoustic band Chairman, curated by Dungrit Bunnag, will perform on Saturday April 9 from 5pm-7pm, followed by a live set by DJ Ben (Studio Lam); while on Sunday April 10, from 6pm-7pm, the amazing Paradise Bangkok will take to the stage to play funky molam tunes. The party will be closed in style by DJ Maft Sai (7pm-10pm).

From Thursday April 14 to Wednesday April 20 #empopupbeach will then bring Koh Phangan elements to town with live indie music curated by Cheeze Magazine, T-shirt paint workshops, neon face paint booths, and much more.

Manute Mee will perform on Thursday April 14 from 6pm-8pm, followed by Aomsin & The Boys from 8pm-9pm. On Saturday April 16 from 4pm-5pm, Got Father will perform at 4pm-5pm, followed by Noong Tor (8pm-9pm).
