In 2016 Jetstar Asia announced that a baby boy named ‘Saw Jet Star’, was delivered safely onboard the aircraft by a team of doctors and the crew of 3K583 after the flight landed in Yangon. He was the FIRST baby to be delivered on a Jetstar Asia flight in its 14-year history.
An expectant mother travelling on a Jetstar Asia flight from Singapore to Yangon, Myanmar unexpectedly went into labour upon landing.
The crew on board called for medical assistance with the early arrival, and three doctors on the flight came forward to help. Just as the crew and doctors were getting ready to move the mother after the flight landed, the baby boy was delivered safely onboard with their assistance.
A Jetstar spokesperson in Singapore said: “Part of the mother’s name is Star, so she told us that she decided to name her baby Saw Jet Star because of the care she received from the airline.
To congratulate the family, Jetstar offered them $1,000 worth of baby supplies.
Jetstar has remained in contact with the family and recently visited the child to help him celebrate his third birthday.
Our team led by Customer Service Manager Mr Saw Ler Htu, who was also on board in assisting the delivery, traveled 8 hours by bus and boat to visit the boy.
