King Power Mahanakhon, Bangkok’s landmark in the heart of Sathorn, joined 60+ Earth Hour 2021, organized by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF Thailand) to promote awareness towards global warming, switching off non-essential electric lights to reduce energy consumption for 1 hour from 8:30-9:30pm on 27 March 2021.
This year marks the third consecutive year King Power Mahanakhon has taken part in the global event since joining in 2019. Both the exterior lights of King Power Mahanakhon’s iconic pixelated building and the signage, LED screens and non-essential electric lights of Mahanakhon CUBE were switched off as air conditioning in the building were raised by 1 degree Celsius for 1 hour between 8:30 and 9:30pm, resulting in a combined reduction of electricity usage of up to 107 kilowatt hours.
King Power Mahanakhon also decorated the Glass Floor of its 78th floor of Mahanakhon SkyWalk, Thailand’s highest observation deck, to display the message “60+ Earth Hour”, further promoting the energy-saving activity to tourists and visitors.
