Located on the third floor of the soon-to-be Cali-Mex Bar & Grill, residents of Bangkok will get to experience Hong Kong’s well-loved Mexican speakeasy Los Sotano as it opens its doors in January 2019, on Sukhumvit soi 11. Known for its creative cocktails and extensive options for quality tequila, the charismatic brains behind the bar Head Mixologist Rob Kariakan will curate seasonal cocktails unique to Bangkok (and its national flavors!) on top of his already acclaimed drinks menu. The renowned Miami-based graffiti artists — Ruben Ubiera, Orgie (AKA Le’ Creep) and Golden — will be flown in exclusively to flex their talents on the walls of Los Sotano once again. This time, their creative efforts will be brought to the table in Bangkok with yet another mission to embellish the walls in colorful graffiti and Mexican-inspired murals with their trademark styles. Bar goers can expect around five margaritas on the menu, each catering to every taste bud so everyone can enjoy Kariakan’s cocktail mastery. Expect a variety of flavors ranging from fresh fruits to spicy hot! |
The best part is that it changes seasonally, so the menu is always revamped and renewed. However, for those who want to venture away from the margarita zone, stay tuned for the curated list of cocktails soon to be released, which as mentioned, embodies five varying cocktails for all tastes. Look out for these classics that are sure to be made with local, fresh ingredients at the bar, and luckily Thailand is the perfect place to hit that sweet spot with its wide array of fruits. First and foremost, the Los Sotano Margarita is a drink surely not to be missed as it is a bona-fide classic made with Patron Silver Tequila, fresh limes, agave and orange liqueur. Anyone can enjoy the Los Sotano Margarita while marveling in the stylish and unique atmosphere. Staying true to the roots of Bangkok’s tropical haze, the Tamarindo is a local-inspired craft every cocktail enthusiast should keep their eyes peeled for. However, we’ll leave it to the bartender to unveil his one of a kind magic. (Hint: wait for the tamarind season in Thailand!) Lastly, we conclude with Tequila Makes My Clothes Come Off – possibly the most iconic drink of the bunch! As it pays tribute to the signature neon sign…your taste buds are in for a ride! Made with lavender infused El Luchador Overproof Tequila, grapefruits, fresh limes and topped with citrus soda, we can see why this is Linda’s favorite. (Oh, and when ordering the drink, you’ll notice a little greeting from Linda herself!) |
While you’re in Bangkok getting your tropical fix, hop on down to experience the Thai version of this tequila-crazed heaven, embellished with an equally dazzling décor and seasonal, must-try cocktails.
