Two World Championship title bouts set for One: Kingdom Of Champions
ASIA’S largest Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotion, ONE Championship, makes its Bangkok debut this month, seeing Thailand’s very own Dejdamrong ‘Sor’ Amnuaysirichoke, the reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion, return home to show the world the power of Muay Thai and defend his belt in front of his countrymen. The undefeated Dejdamrong will be facing the toughest test of his professional career when he takes on Shooto Flyweight Champion Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito of Japan, in a massive clash between two of the best fighters in the world at their weight class. |
Dejdamrong is a three-time Lumpinee stadium Muay Thai world champion and is also undefeated as a professional mixed martial artist. He is known as a technical fighter with quick hands and lightning feet, employing some of the most unique and creative striking combinations as a martial artist with over 25 years of competitive experience.
Yoshitaka is also unbeaten with a perfect 10-0 record. He has four wins by submission and one knockout under his belt. The 32-year-old, who made a name for himself at Japan’s world-famous Korakuen Hall competing as the Shooto featherweight champion, will be fighting outside of his native Japan for the first time.
The event, which will be held on May 27 at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, will also feature a second World Championship title bout – Marat “Cobra” Gafurov of Russia, the reigning ONE Featherweight World Champion – and an absolute force to be reckoned with on the ground (nine out of his 13 victories have come by submission) – who will defend his belt against Kazunori Yokota of Japan, who sports a stellar record of 25 wins and just five defeats.
Among the many other high profile fighters on the card are Russia’s Timofey Nastyukhin, who will go up against one of the biggest names in Asian MMA, striking specialist Rob Lisita of Campbelltown, Australia; and 29-year-old Leandro Ataides of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, who will return to the ONE Cage following a harrowing knockout loss to Aleksei Butorin in 2015 to take on Polish mixed martial artist Marcin Prachnio (see the full fight card at onefc.com).
Alongside the fights, the event will also feature a performance be popular Thai bands Big Ass and Bodyslam.
Tickets are available to purchase at at thaiticketmajor.com and range in price from B300 – B12,000.
