BEGAN his career as a management trainee at an independent hotel in Liverpool, Martin Hurley received an all-rounded perspective of the daily hotel operations, and from there, he decided to move to the kitchen full-time and became a chef in the southern English coastal town of Bournemouth. He returned as a restaurant manager before returning to hotel industry as the general manager of a new branded hotel in West London, owned by Whitbread. He then moved back to Liverpool and opened a city centre property as Front Office Manager followed by a secondment as Sales Manager. This led to him returning to the General Manager role. He held the General Manager role for several large properties for Whitbread and enjoyed a short stint as a brand consultant in India before a promotion to Area Manager looking after six hotels. He then took on the General Manager at InterContinental Hotels in London before joining the Landmark Lancaster group at K West Hotel & Spa London. He was responsible for a major refurbishment of Spa and F&B developing and launching a new bar and restaurant concept, won the award for "Best London Spa" from the Good Spa Guide and achieved successes in revenue growth in all areas. Having visited southeast Asia extensively, he was looking for the opportunities in the region when he was offered to join as the General Manager of the Lancaster Bangkok where he now enjoys living with his family. lancasterbangkok.com |
