Padaree Bunnag revealed her approach to modern-day parenting, “Most of the time, I take care of my kids on my own even though I get a little help from our nanny. The essential part of parenting for me is to let them think by themselves, allow them to do things on their own, and give them the freedom to make decisions. It started from the beginning when I would encourage them to be the ones to make decisions. Even though it’s obvious that the nanny would tend to my younger boy quite often, but with Rayrai, she has more confidence in herself than her brother. There’s actually one thing my husband and I agree strongly, which is pushing to enjoy outdoor activities — this is extremely important. Usually on the weekends, we’d take them cycling in public parks, or during longer holidays, we’d have a trip out to the countryside, or even abroad to ski. Each year, we’d have a family trip to see their grandparents in France where they also get to explore different parts of the world. All of these experiences teach them a lot of things, including independence, since the nanny isn’t there to help — and a little sibling bonding experience too!”
Another approach to parenting, courtesy of Janis Sophonphanich Yangpichit, was elaborated, “My concern is about their health and natural development process. Each year, it’s clear to see them changing, their tastes change, which is why I give them the freedom of expression and I give full support in whatever activities they like and excel at. Also, I encourage them to try new experiences. Speaking from urban resident, whenever possible, we’d find time to get some fresh air — either take them to the beach or let them enjoy whatever sports they like. Their weekday routine is basically going to school, but on Saturday, I give them a leisure day. On Sunday, they’d get to partake in extracurricular activities like ballet, piano classes, and golf, which they absolutely love.”
On Children’s Day, ‘OneSiam Amazing Kids Dream’ was clearly one of incredible places that offer children unforgettable experiences.
