River City Bangkok is now closed until 30 April 2020 in compliance with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) effort to limit the spread of COVID-19. We would like to take this opportunity to thank art lovers and collectors for visiting River City exhibitions, performances and talks, auctions, and antique traders, shopping and dining in the recent years. While we are closed, we would like to provide you access to all the things you have come to love when visiting our art and antique center. RCB AT HOME, found on our website www.rivercity.com/rcbathome has been created in response to everyone’s need to stay at home during the restrictions of movement and access to public buildings such as River City. RCB AT HOME is being promoted on social media channels and in the media. We will also be sending out regular emails to those already receiving information about exhibitions, auctions and other activities. We join the many leading museums and galleries worldwide during this trying time. On the RCB AT HOME tab, content is divided into three categories: |
1. Exhibitions
Read inspiring and insightful stories about two of the world’s most famous artists, and forthcoming exhibitions at River City: Vincent Van Gogh and Andy Warhol. Discover some unknown anecdotes through graphic and animated presentation.
In addition, you’ll be able to enjoy a 360-degree virtual tour of our current exhibitions. Vanishing Bangkok: The Changing Face of the City by British photographer, Ben Davies. Follow Ben as his camera opens a side of Bangkok you have perhaps not thought about before. For those who wish to be in foreign land, enjoy another photo exhibition, All Things Left Behind by Carolina Sandretto, the Italian photographer who has captured unique memories in the deserted areas of Cuba, Svalbard, and Antarctica. Last but not least, let fashion brighten your day with Tube Gallery’s 20th Anniversary exhibition. Discover fanciful archive pieces created by the duo designer of this famous Thai fashion brand known for maximalism and fantasy.
2. RCB Auctions
Grand Auction has been postponed to Saturday 6 June at RCB Auctions on the 4th floor of River City Bangkok. Thirty-five years of operation has helped us build a professional team with enviable expertise. Those of you who have sold or bought objects at RCB Auctions, you will know of the preview period two weeks prior to each auction. We will continue to showcase highlight lots (pieces for sale). A special collection of pieces in the next Grand Action are objects made by Thai artisans and exhibited in Paris back in 1997. These items will be previewed on our various platforms, including FaceBook, Instagram, website and email. Facebook: RCB Auctions and www.rcbauctions.com. Keep an eye out for tips from RCB Auctions acquisition and auction manager, Mr. Domechai Buddawong.
3. Collectibles
Some of the antique traders have been at River City since we opened 35 years ago, many for almost as long. Each of our traders has their own special expertise – a deep knowledge of the craftsmanship disciplines they come face to face with every day. People passionate and knowledgeable about Thai Bencharong porcelain, Chinese ceramics, and Tibetan furniture, and a wide range of decorative items for the home.
At River City Bangkok, we strongly believe that art can be an inspiration for people where ever you are. We hope #RCBATHOME provides an entertaining and educational resource for you and your family while you are spending more time at home.
May you stay safe and uplifted during these challenging times. We look forward to welcoming you back to River City when we reopen our doors to the public.
