Inspired by a bar in Havana, this Latin-American-themed bar is revolutionising Sathorn Soi 10
SATHORN Soi 10 and 12 have slowly become known as one of the hottest neighbourhoods in Bangkok. Amongst the new and not-so-new hangout spots, a pale blue vintage-style structure stands out. Founded by Sébastien Bonnefoi, Revolucion Cocktail opened its doors in Bangkok about a year and a half ago, aiming to firmly develop Bangkok’s bar scene by highlighting tasty cocktails and impressive bar showmanship. The bar, located in Sathorn Soi 10, is the fourth in line and the first outside of China. Believing that Bangkok is finally ready for innovative cocktails, the bar sports an impressive collection of spirits, 330 kinds to be exact, behind the bar tops. Catering to both foreign and Thai guests, the cocktails served have been adapted in order to fit the Thai palate too. |
Recently, Revolucion Cocktail launched its new cocktail the Chinese Take Away (B340) – a mix of Jameson Whisky, Branca Manta, cinnamon syrup, lemon juice, apple juice, and orange bitter topped with noodle-like jelly strips and served in a Chinese noodle takeaway box with two straws. Other mention-worthy drinks include the Tom Ka Kai (B300) – infused vodka (chilli, lemongrass, kaffir leaves) to get the truest tastes of Tom Ka Kai mixed with coconut puree, lemon juice, galangal syrup, lemongrass stick, and fresh galangal slices served in a plastic bag in a wooden bowl; the Parrot (B360) – Havana Club 3 year old rum, clove syrup, orgeat syrup, lime juice, pineapple juice, pabana puree, and angostura bitter making for a very sweet and sour cocktail served in a plastic take away cup; and the Cherry Manhattan (B330) – Maker’s Mark Whisky, Martini Rosso, Martini Dry, and cherry syrup served inside an ice orb where guests will have to break the ice to get to the goodies inside. |
Despite being known for their cocktails, Revolucion Cocktail is just as sensational when it comes to tapas – created by French chef Julien Lavigne, former chef at Dusit Thani and Oskar bar. For the perfect accompaniment to your cocktail try: Patatas Bravas (B160) – potatoes, black garlic mayonnaise, and tomato ‘Siracha’; the Revolucion pizza (B310) – grand reserve Serrano ham, 3 months aged macheco, caramelized onion, and cream cheese; or the simple-but-tasty Corn Chips (B190) – spicy red bean sauce, cream cheese, and guacamole served with homemade corn chips.
