Following The Art of Living Community concept, River City Bangkok brings one of the most exhilarating Chinese New Year 2019 through a modern myriad of arts.
Behind the lenses of British photographer Yvan Cohen who was working with various international publication, CHINATOWN Photo Exhibition by Yvan Cohen is a professional showcase of photographic work specially taken at Chinatown of Bangkok or Yaowarat district. Check out Yvan’s photography via www.yvancohen.com.
It is the first time of Yvan Cohen exhibiting his work in Thailand after living expatriate life for many years. Yvan can speak Thai fluently. Despite dramatic change in urbanity, he has been absorbing unique identities of Yaowarat for years and casually chatting with local people. More than 20 photographs displayed at RCB Photographer’s Gallery on the 2nd floor become visual storytelling of authentic local life without exaggeration. Each photo is like a companion who is unveiling us undiscovered aspects in Yaowarat among the hustle and bustle of the city.
Yvan said “My journey through Chinatown is a personal odyssey – a visual exploration of Bangkok through photographs echoing stories and history full of culture. Here, it’s home to vibrant communities. It’s truly a home to Bangkok dwellers and full of lively communities.
I started with my enthusiasm and passion in light and shadow. This district looks like a theatrical scenography that keep changing over ten years. I feel related to it and it becomes my duty to preserve memories for this community before disappearing as a matter of time.
