The world-class aquarium located at the heart of the city, SEA LIFE Bangkok launched their school-break campaign called ‘Discover The New Shark Family’ – setting out to load visitors with latest edutainment experiences through the introduction of the new shark family.
The aquarium features 15 species of the total 65 sharks – plus the 3 new additions of the Large-tooth Sawfish, and Bowmouth and Giant Guitarfish. The new fish also bring along the new feeding shows – those of the Large-tooth Sawfish at 10:45 am and 4:45 pm; and that of the Giant Guitarfish at 1:15 pm. The launch event saw the presences of Wongravee ‘Sky’ Nateetorn, the most talked-about actor known for his role as ‘Doctor Shark’; and Nichapat ‘Praewa’ Chatchaipolrat, the million-view pop singer at SEA LIFE Bangkok, B1-B2 fl., Siam Paragon.
Noppadon Prapimpunt, head of Merlin Entertainments (Thailand) and General Manager of SEA LIFE Bangkok stated that, “SEA LIFE Bangkok is very dynamic in the way that we are always on the lookout for ways to create and optimize edutainment experiences for our visitors. As October is as much the travelling season as it is the school break, it is the perfect time for us to launch the campaign. This year, we are welcoming new members to our already large family of sharks – offering visitors a chance at the latest more inclusive experiences.”

‘Discover The New Shark Family’ is SEA LIFE Bangkok’s newest underwater adventure – welcoming 15 species of 65 sharks and offering an edutainment mission to visitors. Wandering through the aquarium’s longest underwater tunnel in South East Asia, one shall meet with the first highlight of the family: Thailand’s one and only Large-tooth Sawfish with its distinctive saw-like rostrum. Despite its seemingly predatory rostrum and shark-like body, the sawfish is friendly and lovable. Another two campaign heroes are the Bowmouth Guitarfish and the Giant Guitarfish. The two species share the same guitar-shaped bodies – with the only difference being the shape of their heads: while the Bowmouth has a wide head with distinctive thorny and bony ridges, the Giant Guitarfish has a long, pointed snout. Within the tunnel’s main tanks are other species of sharks for all to discover: the Sand Tiger Shark, the original king of SEA LIFE Bangkok; the Black Tipped Reef Shark, the small-sized and one of the most common sharks found in shallow water; Tawny Nurse Shark; Zebra Shark; Black Blotched Fantail Ray; Spotted Eagle Ray; and Cownose Ray. The mission continues in other aquarium tanks featuring the Chaopraya Stingray – first found in Thailand and the world’s second largest ray; the Port Jackson Shark; the Blue Spotted Stingray; the Ocellate River Stingray; and the Polkadot River Stingray. |
